Sometimes I think people are just being insensitive and don't realise they are hurting someones feelings.
Most times I think it is due to poor self esteem - the person doesn't feel good about themselves so they hurt other people to make them feel bigger/better.

because they have been hurt before and hence show this saddist type of behaviour
