The recycle cans and plastic bins were everywhere.

We just returned from a mini vacation. Everywhere you looked the blue recycle bins were there. There was even one in the ladies restroom of the main lodge. I don't really want to think what may have been in that one. The bins didn't seem to get emptied while we were there. Granted we were only staying in lodge for 3 days. I would have thought given the large groups of people they would have gotten emptied. Just wondering how often you think trash and recycling should be disposed of at a resort or vacation spot? The trash was emptied daily.

They should be emptied every day, overloaded recycle bins are of no use, they just add to the clutter. When people care to use them then the people who put them there should be courteous enough to empty them before they become overloaded. Clutter causes a fire risk especially things like glass, paper and plastic. If the weather is hot then the heat of sun on glass can cause paper lying around to catch light. If people put containers with leftover food into recycle bins then flies are attracted and smells waft around. Something no one wants to experience even on a short break such as yours.

The place should have some seminar about solid waste management, to know what should be done with this concern.

I would expect the trash to be emptied daily and the recycling to be emptied when full. In my room, I would expect both to be taken care of daily.

Personally, I think recycling should be taken very seriously at campgrounds. The whole reason for being of a campground or public park is to give respect to nature and the natural world. Recycling (or reducing waste to begin with) is one mechanism for doing so.
