I LOST IT TODAY, AGAIN. Was not feeling good, had been to the doctor & had to go on to the drugstore to get my new script filled. Sitting in the handicap parking place was a car w/no handicap placard or license plate so i had to park further away 'IF' the car hadn't been there. I know the lady that was working at the store & i ask her did she know who was driving the car. She goes out on the sidewalk & waits to see who caME OUT TO GET IN THE CAR, i FOLLOWED HER. When the lady started to get in the car i ask her where her handicap placard was. She said i don't have one. I then ask her why in the devil she was parked there. I know loverbear & barb will be proud of me,lol.Of course she started whining that she didn't normally do that[right] but she hadn't been feeling good.Bless her heart, sure hope she gets better so she can get in a regular parking place & leave the handicap place for someone who is!! Would u have said anything to her or been nicer than me? I have about had it w/rude people.

Atta girl! I wish I even have half of your spunk. Sometimes I will just speak out when it has happened more than once to my knowledge, like the first "tackiness" I usually overlook and say and do nothing. I know it's not really helping anyone since its just like encouraging that person to do stunts like that again. Bless you and may we have more of people like you.

I guess you're made that way to compensate for people like me who will just freeze to the spot and let be taken advantage of the first time and let it slide. :) But what you did is something I can try for a change.

99% of the time my roomie's brother is a jerk, but the day he saw a sporty car pull into a handicapped place and a young guy jump out of it, he pulled up behind him and gave him "what for" for parking in a spot when there are real handicapped people like his sister who need them!

like i said, ive usually not said anything but my hubby would have and then would have been so sorry if the woman said she just didnt feel good at all. but if she got rude with him or even seemed fine he probably would have just got her plates and called the police station to report it or who ever you call.

What does she mean she wasn't feeling well? Like she had the flu?!! She thinks because she has a cold that means she gets to park in a handicapped space?! It's one thing to park in a handicapped spot and have a fake handicap it is a totally different one to park in a handicap spot when you don't even have a disability. I am not sure if I would say something or not, I guess it would depend on my mood for the day! Haha...

hi dearest Antiquelady she can call herself lucky that you didnt say any more than this. I guess if I had been in your shoes I would have exploded, and then gone to the police to report her of misusing the parking space for the handicapped. I am proud of you too cause you didnt just ignore the situation but said something. Some people just dont understand what handicapped people go through. No matter how urgent it was but my husband would never steal a place for the handicapped not even for 5 minutes.

That could have been the first time someone said something to her. Perhaps she'll be too worried about getting caught to do it again.

Good for you for saying something! I've never personally saw anyone do this but I know my oldest daughter has, and followed that person in the store making remarks and asking her why she parked there. Neither one of us is handicapped but it's so wrong to do and my daughter can't stand people like that, just like you or I! If you're capable of walking, then park somewhere else!!!!! I find it very aggravating to hear of this and yes, they are rude and completely LAZY people who don't give a crap about anyone but themselves. How sad is that!

Yes, my daughter is a sweetheart and can't stand people like that. From what I understand, she really said a mouthful too, haha, which I'm sure embarrassed the lady completely. Possibly next time you can mention something to the Manager of the store at least, he might help and end up going on the intercom to ask them to move their car. Wouldn't that be great?

I would have been ruder. It's very easy to get a handicap placard. And I would have told her that. If she's feeling so badly that she has to take up a parking space that someone who always feels worse then she should go and get herself a placard. I hope she left feeling a lot worse than when she pulled in.

Hi AL! Good for you! I most definitely would have done the same (if I drove) and I know my BFF (who does drive) whould have "taken her head off"! I am disabled and so is my BFF, although I keep telling her to get a sticker because we both have "walking issues" and she still hasn't. I don't feel that people that are able to walk without issues should park in the handicap parking spaces. They should be respectful and I believe here in NY they can get fined.

So nice to hear from u, Opal. It's been awhile.Hope all is well w/u. Your friend should get a sticker. We have to pay for ours here but it's worth it. It's not that much around $15 i think back when i first got mine. They really help to get closer to where u are going unless some jerk like i encountered is parked there. They are suppose to get fined here but where is a cop when u need one, lol. Thanks for responding.

I don't understand why people do that. Really, is walking a few more yards really so torturous that one needs to steal a spot from someone who medically needs it? I think that your reaction was more than reasonable. Unfortunately, the lights probably did not flicker on for that woman. She probably still believes that she was justified in parking in the spot--all to save herself from having to walk those few extra yards.

I don't like rudeness either and it would have irritated me to no end. The fact is that there are people that have stickers who don't feel good on any day and that lady is crying about her one day. Shame.

I probably wouldn't have said anything because I don't like to cause a ruckess. However, even though I don't have any type of disability I get upset when I see people using thoses handicap parking places when they don't have a card in the window. Alot of people do it and get away with it. We tend to park far away from the store to walk more but alot of people don't think that way. They want the parking right upfront and don't care how they get it. Good for you though that you spoke up more people should do that and maybe it would stop people from doing it again. Then again you could end up speaking up to the wrong person and something bad could happen.

tHANKS for responding, Lelin. I don't like a ruckus either but my temper got the best of me. I;m bad at that, lol. When u have a hard time getting around & have to park further away than u would have to if that jerk wasn;t in the handicapp spot it makes me ill.U are right i may run upon someone as high tempered as me one of there day but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it after i hit them w/my cane.

Of course I would have said something to her about her parking illegally in a clearly marked designated area for disabled people. If we don't speak out when these things happen the people will just do it over and over again. I am glad that you acted this way but not happy that you haven't been well lately. I do hope that you feel better soon. Many, many blessings.

Maybe you should have taken out her knee caps with a baseball bat so that she actually had a disability! I would never park in a disabled spot myself and I always take note of whether or not there is a disabled permit on the car when I see them in disabled spots. Most times they have the permit, it is very rare that I see someone parking in spots without the permit. Maybe people here are nicer?
