Is there anyone here who likes musicals? I think some have been made into the best movies of all time.
My favorites include:
West Side Story
Singin' in the Rain
Oklahoma!
Phantom of the Opera
Wizard of Oz
Sweeney Todd
Sound of Music

I am not a big fan of musicals, but I do enjoy watching "Crybaby" every now and then. I saw it last year and was hooked.

Hello, I love musicals! I started to love em when I was 17. Two of my favorites are Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Loyd Webber and Les Miserables a musical based on the novel of Victor Hugo. I cried every time I watched this two musicals, it's just perfect! Specailly in Les Mis, how Jean Valjean struggles for his freedom, it's really a tear jerker musical. I hope you try to watch this and rate it. Thank you :)

hello,
Personally I dont like musicals. They are kind of boring sometimes. I like music and song and dance. I think they are beautiful when they are played in the background. But that's it. It should not be an important part of the movie. Or else I think the story kind of get divirsed. But again there are a few musicals which I like. I am huge fan of Johny Depp and so I watched Sweeney Todd. And I was not disappointed. It was a very good movie. I liked the part of Johnny Depp very much. and that musical changed my perspective towards Musicals a bit.

I have seen a handful of musicals lately, but I must say, I have become a fan of this kind of shows! I LOVE MUSICALS! Maybe it's my love for both of music and of films that made me attracted to seeing more musicals. West Side Story and The Sound of Music are some of favorites, as well. They are very much entertaining to watch, because of all the singing and dancing and all the other performances of the stars. I have gotten so hooked on watching these musical films that I could watch them tirelessly like, almost everyday or so.
It seems like those kind of musicals existed in the past eras... There could have been a few "musicals" in the present, but they are somehow a lot different already from the classic musicals then. It's not only with the genre of music used for the line-up of the songs, but for the story and some other elements, as well. I don't know. Maybe there will always be something different with the musicals of the yesteryears.

I really like the musicals from MGM best of all, I think. I agree with much of your list. I enjoy Singin in the Rain since a child. Also, Easter Parade, plus most of the Fred and Ginger films. One of my ALL time favorites was Lili, staring Leslie Caron. I LOVED that story so so much. I just wish I could get my hands on that film again. I really would like to watch Lili again, I loved it that much. However, I saw it years ago, and cannot remember the end clearly, so that is a good thing, as it will be like watching it all over again! Another of my favorites was Gigi. Footlight Parade with James Cagney is really a little gem. Not many people know about that film. I enjoyed it when I saw it. However, a musical is only as good as the story that accompanies it. The music is awesome, and must also have a good story. For me, it always seems that I love the Romance involved with musicals. Take care and welcome to Mylot!
