My younger sister and I are planning on driving to visit our older sister and her sons in California towards the beginning of August (before my classes start). While we are there our sister wants go to Sea World. That sounds fun but I don't want to drive the 3-4 hours it'll take to get there from my sisters house just to drive right back on the same day! That's a lot f drivig. So I'm hoping to find other things to do so maybe we can stay a couple days. So far I have found the Fasion Valley Mall that is suppose to be really cool to visit. I'd also maybe like to check on a beach, walk on the boardwalk, see some little shops and eat at a little beachside restaurant! Thing is the only time I've ever been to San Diego I was really little, so I don't remember it. Has anyone ever been there? Do you have any spots to recommend?? Thanks!

Haha! Sorry I don't really have any interest in Comic Con. My brother wanted to go but tickets were sold out. He went to a smaller little Comic Con thing here though.

It is not just about the comics lol. I would love to go. I just like the idea of meeting people that are nerdier than I. It would help me sleep at night lol

Yes I was there last year for 2 weeks there is so much to do in San Diego. There is the San Diego Zoo which is "world famous" but I don't consider it the best zoo however since you love taking photos this would be a nice place to spend the day. But I will warn you it's $40 adult entry and $30 for kids under 12 or so. If you want a free place to go you can go down to La Jolla and photograph the wild sealions and pelicans and you can also take a nice walk down mission beach. There is also Scripps aquarium which is another very cool place I enjoyed And to eat you must go to PF Changs! We don't have it here in Melbourne so it makes me very sad

Yeah I'm not sure my sister would want to pay for Sea World and The Zoo, but "free" is a word I like!!! La Jolla?? Wild Sealions?!?!? Oh my gosh I would love that!! Is La Jolla the name of a beach? And I started reading about Mission beach, but I didn't finish. What makes it so special? The article I read started talking about how amazing Mission Beach is! Is it really that different from any other beach? We have PF Changs here so that wouldn't be anything special for us Sorry you don't have it! Haha Thank you for all your suggestions!

The Cave Store definitely sounds like somewhere I want to go!!! And I would really love to see the Sea Lions! I hope they're there! Now another issue, do you know of any cheap hotels in the area? We'll all cram into 1 room (there are 4 adults and 2 kids haha) but all the places I looked up are still quite expensive! I don't know how it's possible!! Haha! I'm a picky eater and I guess I just never felt like going whenever my family went! But I promise, on your behalf, I will go the next time! And honey chicken sounds good to me! Haha

OK I asked my friend about all that as I wasn't sure so here is his reply "The store is called the cave store. The sea lions tend to be where I took you and there is controversy about them taking over a kiddie pool area at 850 coast blvd. That is at the far end of the park from the cave store. Not sure about summer." Where he took me is pretty much where this cave store is, you just walk from that store towards the ocean onto a footpath and follow it around and you should see them there. YOU HAVE NEVER EATEN AT PF CHANGS?!?! How is this possible? Here I am 14 hour plane ride away wanting to go and here you are so close to it and you've never been! You must try the honey chicken it is so delicious! BabyCheetah demands you go on her behalf

There's Old Town San Diego and the Gas Lamp District. Of course, you can always catch a San Diego Padres Game. There's also a very pretty park around a lake just before Sea World. There's an old mission somewhere around there too but I don't remember quite where that is. And don't forget the wild life park. Plenty to do and see. Have fun.

I'll have to watch for that park on our say to Sea World! Sounds like it would be a good place to get some nice pictures. I'll have to look up Old Town San Diego, that sounds like it could be interesting! And Gas Lamp District too!! Thanks for the suggestions!

Oh how I wish I could help you, but I've never been there. I hope you get to go at least for 2/3 days as that's not a short drive. It would be so much fun finding all the interesting places to visit. Sea World alone would probably take up most of the day. How about asking your sister since she lives there. She can probably give you a few pointers but I'm hoping someone here can answer you too. Possibly you can do a small search on one of the search engines and see what other people say. Have fun no matter what you do!!!

Yeah the drive is no fun, especially considering it's going to take my little sister and I about 4 hours to drive to my sisters house!! I hate being stuck in a car....and come to think of it...a 3-4 hour drive with a 10 month old and 4 year old? Oh gosh! My sister hasn't lived in CA long, and I really don't think she would know much about what there is to do in San Diego. she might not know things to do around her own home! She has two little boys to take care of, probably doesn't get out much! I'll look into the Zoo, but not sure she would want to have to pay for Sea World and the Zoo. Thanks Kash!

San Diego has an amazing zoo. We went to San Diego last May, and while we were there we went to Mission Beach after we arrived. The nest day, it was Sea World, then to the beach after it closed. The next day, husband and I horribly burned, we went to the zoo. There are quite a few little parks all around the city, shops and dining. I went to the cities website to plan it out before we went, to find the beach that would be better for us, since there are several different ones, Mission was what we settled on, being so close. We also made a list that included back up plans, just in case.

I have never been to San Diego, but while in LA recently I checked out some of the stuff to do down there if we did make it there. It had plenty of awesome beaches, the famous San Diego zoo, and Legoland if you are into Lego at all!

My sister is actually at Legoland right now with a friend of hers! I'm glad they're doing that now because I am NOT into Legos! Haha. Ooo I'd like to go to LA someday!

Last time I visited my sister I tried to get someone to go to LA with me (I didn't want to drive there, especially alone!) but no one would. My sister doesn't live far from LA but I guess no one else wants to drive there either!

HaHa. How funny! What timing I have! If you are going to Southern California, then you have to go to LA. It is very busy, but an amazing place. So much to see though.

I just went to San Diego with my friend, and it wasn't that attractive to me though with this place. I went to the San Diego zoo safari park, and stay around 2 hours there to see the animals. Besides that, I honestly didn't do much in San Diego though. Hopefully, I would get some recommendation from others where I can go.

That is a second traveling post I read here, and I envy people has time and money to go to a lot of places and I just love it. For me, I love to travel and at the same time, I am under financial difficulty. First thing first, I have to get rid of my debt, then I can talk about going to abroad for traveling. Honestly, I never been to San Diego, hopefully someday I can go there to sightsee.
