I can't believe anyone would ask her for money.

I'm sure that all of you remember Karen Klein the bus monitor that the four fourth graders bullied back at the end of June. Well she has decided to retire. She has or will receive over $700,000. Indiegogo.com, a website for online fundraising ask for donations to reach of #5000 to send Karen on a vacation. Well they have raised $700,000. 31,000 people have made pledges most pledging $21.00 and one person donating $3000. The donations have come from 84 countries and every one of the states. She has received several trip along with other gifts including a blanket and pillow. She is also receiving cards and letters.
Now complete strangers are asking her for money. This I can't believe. This woman has lost a son to suicide and been bullied by bratty kids. People have been generous in sending money for her. They want it to go to her not some one else. I don't understand some people.
She plans to use the funds for her family as some of them are unemployed and two grandchildren are disabled..

That is the proplem these days. More people want something for nothing. They figure if they can con her out of her money then that is longer they don't have to work. Good for her that she is using it for her family. It isn't very often when you see that either.

All types of people ask those who have been given money in large amounts for assistance for themselves. Not all are worthless, some are desperate and see people like her as a means to assist them out of the despair. I've seen it with people who win the lottery and everyone crawls out of the woodwork seeking to be a part of the windfall. Some are schemers, some aren't, but normally I'd say the person who receives the money needs to invest what they receive carefully or they won't have any left in a matter of days. What disturbs me is how many times it will be family members seeking to NOT work that ask for it when they are capable of working. Unfortunately, many ask because they truly can't work or are disabled and seek help of any kind even if it is from someone else who has the same problem. I try not to judge those that seek "free" financial assistance because rarely do I know the story behind why they are seeking it. But I have learned from my own experience to take care of me first and others IF there is any left over. Unfortunately, there will always be those who think they come ahead of you in the "need" line. Many people will think it is crazy for Ms. Klein to receive any donations when they feel she has a lawsuit pending that could give her millions for the incident. Like you, I will never understand some people and their motivations for seeking money from someone who is being compensated for a tragic event.

I didn't say she did, I said many people will FEEL she has one pending. In many places, parents are held responsible for the actions of their children, and seeing how this appears to a case of video evidence, it would be hard to deny the actions of your children.

I hope she will consult a financial adviser and invest most of that money so she can have an income from it. Otherwise it'll all be gone within a year.
People crawl out of the woodwork when they see someone who has a windfall. Their own needs are the most important in the world and the needs of the person with money don't count--they are like cockroaches that see a piece of food and swarm. They have no pride, no sense of humility and ambition. They are cockroaches.

How could strangers ask money from her?
I saw and read the news but haven't heard any updates as of now.
I do feel for her when those kids bullied her that way.
She is kind of old and really needs to retire and have some relaxation.
The site that raise funds for her is really great and deserves commendation

This is a very strange thing. I am not awake with all of the information about her, but I heard about it and watched a video clip of the story. I am very very happy that the American people are so supportive to each other, specially to people like this teacher. But I don't really know who wants money from her? How can I understand little bit more about it?
Here in Bulgaria that thing would never happen! People will never donate money to a person who has been a victim of such insults. It was impressive and positive to hear such news.

Hello Suggar. Mrs Klein was a bus monitor. She road the bus to keep the kids in order. The people that are asking for money are beggars or people too lazy to work. We have a few of them here. Donations came in for her from 84 countries. I'll bet some even came from your country. Donations coming from all fifty states. Now you see why we are a great nation.

I am very happy that people get into charity there so much.
Anyway, I would love to thank you so much for sharing the web address where they are trying to collect for her 5000$ for a holiday. I myself checked it last night and I tried to post a campaign there.
One of the reasons people here doesn't donate lots of money is that they take very small salaries from their daily jobs, which salaries keep them on the line between being broke.
But I am very glad that good things happen all over the world.
