my puppy is just 7 months old. she has been so great, barely barks, was house trained within 2-3 weeks, and is just a sweetie pie. her 'grandma' lives next door so sometimes she goes over there plays with the family dog (ie harasses him) and is babysat.
grandma has been teaching her some bad things, now i hear. she gets a lot of treats, licks a lot of plates and she gets to sit on the couch. this is only now manifesting itself wherein she thinks its her right to sit on the couch, so i get up put ice in a drink and come back to the couch and shes on it! shes done this many times when im not looking. and once she slept on the couch in the middle of the night she got out of her bed and went to the living room to sleep on the pillow on the couch... this is just she has really stinky feet she cant help it but she sometimes stands in her pee.. i love her and grandma but they have to stop this behaviour!! And my pup needs to be less cheeky!

Ha ha! You are to become a true dog owner. I don't know any dog owner who's dog doesn't sleep on the couch! She's just a normal dog. What dog would sleep on the floor instead of a cozy pillow on the couch?
All the help I can give is to suggest you to wash her feet when she comes inside from the pee time. This way her feet won't smell bad and both of you will be happy.

yea, i like your attitude! she is just having fun, and getting a nice cosy sleep. she has a nice bed with good pillows and blankets so this is why i thought why does she want the couch? the elevation? she hasnt done it for a couple days shes relocated to under my bed since it is back together. maybe i will give her her section of the futon since she can reach it but shell never put those stinky feet in my bed the line has to be drawn somewhere ;)

Well it all depends on how that dog was trained so if your puppy has such a bad habit the grandma is really to blame. I have dogs but they never go beyond the limit because they have been trained well. I don't know how you could change her bad habits unless the grandma would stop teaching the puppy wrong things.

right now, she hasnt been there for a couple of days so ive been able to change her behaviour a bit she hadnt jumped on the couch but i definitely fear her bad behaviour coming back if she goes over there unattended (by me!) but i need to have a talk with gramma.. the thing is she cant jump on their couch shes too short she gets put up there and our other dog is allowed to jump up whenever he wants this may teach her as well.

I wouldnt want my animals sleeping directly on the couch either because it usually makes the furnitire smell like a dirty wet dog after awhile. Its to bad the dog isnt grasping that he can sit on the couch at your mothers couch and not yours. I keep a throw blanket on the back of our couches for our cat to lay on. That way since she would lay there and get cat hair all over the blanket instead of my couch and then I can just wash the blanket when it gets to much cat hair on it.
