I found that these days what is selling more and what people read more is motivational books other than novels. Is novels no longer appealing? Do you that novels are now pushed to the rear by Motivational?

I not like to read novels because if novels start reading then difficult to leave it in the middle. Want to finish at a time and it is difficult to time limit.

All I have to say about motivational books..at least the ones I have read..is that they don't tell you specifics. Like they will tell you how it worked for them, but if you "take notes" you (at least I did) notice that they just tell you the generalities and I also notice that they just happened to be at the right place at the right time, had a friend to do the work for them, or just had the money to make it happen. One I read by Robert Allen I think it was "how to make a million in 30 days" or something ike that. IT was a woman that needed one million dollars in 30 days. She did it...but on paper only and she knew the right people to do the things she needed and they didn't charge her for their work. And she had something tosell that other wanted..but again..the profit was only on paper. She never actually had a mil in her hand to do anything with. I read a spiritual book.. I knew everything they talked about.. I was born and raised in the bible. They told me nothing I didn't already know..and in the end...it didn't answer any of my questions or help me in anyway. And in either case...they offer such generalities that yes, it can happen for anyone but odds are against it happening to very many. Common sense says that if it was that easy to do...no one would be poor!

I disagree. I think novels are still outselling motivational books. Though I guess it would depend which novels and which motivational books you point out. Personally, I pretty much never read motivational books. The majority of what I read are high fantasy or YA novels. I've read a little bit of non-fiction recently, but nothing I would say qualifies as "motivational". I think the books that sell the best and the most consistently are YA novels.

Hi Chikezie! For me, I would vote for novels because not only I am entertained, I also gain wisdom from them especially the really good ones that received literary awards like the Newbery Awards, YA awards, Scott O'Dell awards for young adult books. Therefore, they also serves as a motivational books for me. Most often I'd look for a logo that says newbery medal (gold is the best) because I would know that it will be a treasure found. I like reading young adult books, although they are intended for the young ones, grown ups will also learn so much in them. They speak from to the heart. Some of the award-winning books that I love: Dear Mr. Henshaw One Eyed Cat AVI books The Witch of the Blackbird Pond

For me, I'm more inclined reading motivational book. It always gives me a chance to reflect and be inspired. It also makes me wiser, learning as much as I can from points of view of successful people. One of the most good motivational books for me is "The last lecture" by Randy Pausch. Her wife also wrote a new book based on her struggles, while coping up with her loss. I'm planning to buy a copy of that soon.

I like both novels and motivational books. Initially when I started to read books, I preferred only novels and purchased a lot of novels and read them. But one day I read Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist book. It is a kind of motivational book. I liked reading that book. Then I started to check for motivational books. I found Robin Sharma's books. Now I am reading his books. I am planning to finish all his books first. After that I will touch novels.
