I got to thinking about the following question and thought that I would ask my fellow MyLotters. There are two candidates for president. The first candidate has great qualifications and is really a good looking man. He had great grades in college, he served in the military, raised funds for various causes including aids, cancer, and homelessness. He is an honest man and had come from a monied background. The second candidate has better qualifications than the first one, plus he was in the peace corp, served in the military, worked for the homeless, and also worked to end cruelty to animals. He also is very honest and worked his way through high school, college, and grad school. The only draw back is that he is very ugly looking. Which candidate would you vote for?

Neither one. I'm not even registered to vote but i was going to looks wouldn't have any influence w/me to start with. I'm pretty disgusted w/politicians to start with. They are all full of hot air or worse.

Two thoughts here... First, neither of these descriptions tell me what the candidates "stand" for. Yes, they contribute to various charities so "humanity" seems to be high on their list of important issues. But beyond that I don't know their political stance on any important issues. Marriage equality, women's health rights, creating employment opportunities, corporate involvement in policy creation... these are the truly important issues and your question doesn't address any of these things. Second, unfortunately these "issues" you've laid out here (aside from aesthetics, although that may be an issue for some) are the things much of the voting public does concern themselves with. "Candidate A is well educated and served in the military, that's all I need to know." And that's what gets us into many of the political messes we find ourselves in.

I believe I would vote for the first person to be the president. From your earlier description, he seems to be a very excellent man with good grades and performances for some time now. He also fought for good causes which helped a lot people in need. Besides, you mentioned that he is a very good looking man. His appearance may come in handy during negotiation and relations with other politicians and nations.
