why do people love material things?

material things are just desires don't you think?? well it actually depends on the purpose of that kind of thing you buy. what i don't believe is that buying that thing because you were just influence by envy or friends or just merely having the satisfaction of grabbing the opportunity to have one. sometimes people will fight just for that material thing even though closed ties relationship is at risk or even life is the collateral. we'll people are people, they just wanted to taste a little of everything as much as possible. for me, i am just happy of what comes in my way and the achievement that i can afford. how about you? can you share yours?

i think people just want to satisfy all they desires and in my part i got lots of things i wanted not because i was influence or envy its because i have no choice but to accept those things literally since maybe im a good person to them they give me things that they think will be a good use to me :D i rarely buy gadgets because it always ends up to me for free.. smiling like a boss :DDD

i guess people start loving material things when he is given an opportunity. usually it is connected to financial status. i believe that it is a common tendency for a people to be materialistic when he is rich. but it can be stopped if one has a goal or motivation. without it, every one will just continue to love things.

bravo! richie rich boy, hmmm.. there are also people that stuff themselves with material things to cover up their fears of being alone or to avoid boredom or gain more friends or to be hooked up to a crowd of highly socialites..

I always believe that material things are just a necessecities that we can live without it, these are not needs.. I also believe inwhat you've said that material things are desires, and because of these desires people tend to envy other, they become greed not knowing it until finally they becae hook on it and they can't avoid it anymore.. I really dont believe that people will die because they dont ave aterial things such as gadgets, cellphones and other.. sometimesI wish people would go back to basics, no greed,no envy,no materialism and everybody will be just simple as before..

I am not materialistic but I love things that makes me feel relax.. We are working and living to satisfy our needs and wants and material things are part of it. Although some individuals are extremist that they fight and willing to die to have what they want. Balance is really important, 'too much of something is bad" you are right that we have to enjoy what we have and whatever comes in our way because it is a gift from GOD but as human being we also have desires to have those things we see around. it is not a sin to have things we want, but it is a sin to take it to the extreme. Life is much important than anything around..
right now... I am enjoying my new tablet... hehehe ;-)

wow, tablet.. congratulations! anyways, it is also good to know that some people will have bought something for themselves as a compensation of all the hard works and yes it's true that 'too much of something is bad' since not all things that you like or desire is good for you. just chose what is necessary..

I love some stuff that money can buy, as well as the ease and comfort and little joy they can bring me. But I don't think I'm that materialistic enough to choose these over my loved ones. I will always choose my family over my stuff no questions asked. We can always buy them, but there's no replacing our family.

it is actually a human nature to have family over material things. but nevertheless their are also people who's eyes only shows the dollar sign in it.
