Nanny needs to go home for family emergency --- is she coming back?

Our nanny talked to my husband and asked if she could go home to attend to her sick mother who is confined in the hospital. She needs to leave tomorrow morning. We have no choice but to let her do what she needs to do for her family. Yet, I doubt, if she's still coming back. Most nannies would say things like that, just anything reasonable enough just to leave, and then would not come back anymore. So, we had to plan out how we're going to make do without her for the time being. She said she's coming back on Sunday, but who knows what will happen in between. If she doesn't plan to come back, I just hope she'd have the decency to inform us ahead so we can look for her replacement soon.

Well...yes, that sob story among household help is getting old, but there's always the reservation that what if it's true? I guess you just have to expect that she will not be coming back. It is better to have a back up just in case. Besides, if she does have plans of coming back, she might take her time in making sure everything is in order with her mom before she leaves. The next immediate problem is hiring someone as her replacement. It was never easy to get ahold of a good HH that's also trustworthy.

I hope nothing serious would happen to her mother, though. And, I hope she could come back sooner, because I really need her help in taking care of my toddler, while my focus is more on the little baby. I need someone to bring her to and fetch her from school everyday. For now, me and my husband will take turns doing that task.
