My New Apartment

So, I just moved to a new apartment (again).. Everything is perfect. No problems with water supply, the place is pretty windy (4th floor), and the neighbors are great. I just couldn't settle myself since I don't believe in a "perfect apartment". Then the rainy days came in. I was ready and going to work, enjoying the ambience of my new apartment.
*went out, closed the door while enjoying the cool breeze*
*waved to neighbors*
Hello, neighbor..
Hello, neighbor with dog...
Hello, neighbor without hair...
When I got downstairs..
Oh look, A river...
It's FRIGGIN' FLOODING! 20 minutes of rain and suddenly downstairs is Waterworld! Geez.. Well, I'm still right, unfortunately.

I got upset the first time I saw it but I guess you just deal with stuff, you're already there. Someone has got to do something about our area's drainage system. There are lot's of places here in Manila, Philippines where it's easy to flood in.

I guess a drainage system is not a matter that can be taken care of quickly. The government here proposes land developments and stuff to make Philippines "look better" but I guess they haven't really thought of how the Philippines would look like all flooded out.

Yes, they should concerned about it. A few months ago there were also flash floods in a few places here especially the main town till there was flood in one of the shopping complex which never happen before. It were also because of the drainage system and all the traders and business lose badly.

I guess you're right. There'll be good days also. Although having good neighbors is one thing, and having to struggle just to get to work is another.

Geeze that is bad. I am sorry you are having such bad luck with finding somewhere to stay. I hope that the flooding does not last long.

The raining already stopped, so there aren't any flooding anymore. I just hope it doesn't rain too soon.

Flooding in the city is not natural disaster, it's the government official's decision-making disaster. They should worry about the drainage system in this area because it's really affecting a lot of establishments here, not just my life.

I did not expect what you said. But at least you still have neighbors. But if when it floods heavily, i think it is better if you find a new apartment. It seems like it is unsafe. You need a home that can keep you safe. Just an advice :) happy mylotting.

I am safe when I'm in the apartment, since it's in the 4th floor. What I'm worried about it when I'm going out and I have to fight a raging river just to get across. I'm also yet to find out if vehicles can actually cross it when the flood is on its highest. If not, there'll be no public vehicles I can ride. If this is the case, I'll have to find another way to get around.

Awww man! Guess you will move again in a couple of months? I'm hunting for a new apartment as well, I'm downsizing as it will be just me and my husband this time (my kid siblings stay with us until this school year ends). And we wouldn't be here in this country most of the time next year but we need to have a place to stay when we're here. And a place for our stuff. Still deiberating whether we will enter into a long term lease contract, buy one unit outright or just rent to own. And if the place is flood free, that's for sure a big factor to consider.

Sad thing is, we won't be moving for a while. I live with my mom and brothers (and sister). The place is a pretty good spot considering our workplaces. My brother won't have to take multiple rides to school, my sister won't take to long to get to the office, the location of the apartment is great. I just don't wanna deal with floods, it's one of the worst things you can encounter on your way to work.

You have good neighbors, and you like the building. I think that a little flooding is a small thing, compared to, say, wretched neighbors. I know that I'd happily take a little flooding over the piles of dung we have next door.
Of course, hopefully, I won't have to deal with either dung-like neighbors or flooding. The boyfriend and I are in the process of securing things so that we can relocate, and I am hoping that our next spot shall be free of nuisance neighbors.

It's actually not "little" flood. The water can get up to right under your knees, not good when you're running late for work. I also don't like nuisance or stupid neighbors. Used to have one -- a kid who always played outside with his toys. He keeps throwing them up high and for those who get hit, they have to make sure they have a thick skull, or at least a reliable insurance.
