What are the best programs to learn a second language

I have tried a few but I am looking for a program thats quick and not too expensive.
Have any of you used a language program either on line or bought one that you found to be particularly useful
the main problem that i am having in understanding spoken spanish .Im not to bad at readind and writing now

I tried it but it seemed too easy to cheat - ie four options and only one is a woman speaking - therefore its the women - what i mean is you can pick an option based on other things rather than actually knowing the answer
