Life Comes at You Fast

I just found out at about 10:30 last night that my roommate/landlord has decided to sell everything he owns (including our house), pack up his car with what's left, and move out to Phoenix, Arizona within the next three weeks. So my boyfriend, my mother, our cat, and I (currently 5 weeks away from my due date) will be looking for a pet-friendly, three bedroom apartment in a town that has LITERALLY nowhere available. On top of this, he's already started selling things, some of which my family and I use everyday. The dining room table and chairs were gone before we got home from work last night, and the washer and dryer are leaving tonight before ten. He's also planning on selling the fridge in our half of the house as well as his own. So, we'll be paying $1 a load to wash clothes at the laundromat until we find an apartment or house (and possibly still after that), and just not buying the milk from my WIC since we have no way to keep it cold. And the best part of it all, my boyfriend has told one of his band mates (who has a really bad home life still living with his parents) that he can move in with us as soon as we move into the new apartment. Which means, either the baby doesn't get a room until he can afford his own place, or we have to go up from $600 (the cheapest available housing we can find) another $100 in rent (which we would already just barely scrape by with). The band mate's girlfriend would probably end up moving in with us as well, bringing along her ball python and hedgehog, and the dream of getting a finnic fox. So, pretty much, I get no say in where we live, who we live with, or how long we're stuck somewhere that I don't like. I don't like any of this at all.

I am glad it has improved a little from when you started this discussion. God works in mysterious ways. =) I hope you get a nicer place than what you have now! You never know this could be a Blessing in disguise. We never know what the road ahead will bring... I hope it turns out great for you!

Thanks! We're actually looking at a place now. Pretty sure we're going to end up renting this one. 2 bedrooms (can be converted to be 3), big backyard, $450 a month, plus utilities. It's looking really good, and the guy renting it knows we're good for rent every month, so he's sure to let us have it. It's 10 minutes from where my boyfriend just got a job at too. (Another blessing in disguise.)

I'm sorry to hear. This is the risk of renting a house. Hopefully you can resolve all this. I hope someday you have your own home.

Thanks. We're actually looking at a house today. =D It's really great how this situation has turned around a little, and just in the past few hours. The insurance guy we go through actually owns a few houses that he rents out. One that will be available this coming Tuesday is the perfect size (3 bedrooms, 1 bath), for a great price ($450 a month, not including utilities), and we only have to move a little bit away from the house we're in now. Thank God for small miracles and good friends.
