this is not banana we eat as fruit. this is the fat banana, the one used when cooking some foods like local dish. i don't know if it is available in other countries. i just have it cooked without oil just a bit of oil. and it tastes great. the little oil just few drops so that the banana won't stick to the pan. anyway, it is just surprisingly sweet . usually we add sugar. but i didn't add any sugar. and it taste so wonderful.

It's surprisingly delicious even though it's not an expensive fruit and it contains lots of good nutrients

Those are plaintains and are available in other countries as well, but mostly the tropical ones. I like the show No Reservations where the host Anthony Bourdain goes to various places in the world to taste the local food. There are countries that also cook plantains either as complements to a main dish, or even dessert. I enjoy these "saba" bananas as well, and they can be used in some of my favorite dishes, while at the same time can be made into yummy desserts.

I don't know about which banana you are talking, but we have one FAT green variety here, i use it as vegetable mostly, i fry it on a nonstick pan using minimum quantity of oil, it tastes so good.. thanks for sharing. Happy posting, cheers. Kalyani

yes that is exactly what i am referring to. but i wait for it to turn yellow before i cook it. it does taste great indeed when we use some oil as it cooks better with oil.

Wow, this does sound delicious! I have eaten banana fritters and they do taste very good, but I am reading about grilled banana the first time. I will definitely try to prepare it now. Do you use the bananas that are completely ripe and firm or the ones that are slightly raw?

that's really an innovative dish. You know, I used to cook fried banana with plain flour covered on it. But it was so difficult to control the oil temperature and finally, it tasted so yake. Your method seems simple and executable, and I would like to have a try. Thank you for sharing your cooking experience.

I don't like to add flour on the banana. It taste better without any flour or anything. Just as it is,it taste much better.
