You are using the same laptop from four years, so for a change you can change it for an upgraded version with good configurations compared to this. Whatever may be the purpose of yours yo should upgrade to at least core i3 or i5 for having a better windowing experience with windows 7 & upcoming windows 8 off course. Laptops with core processors are equipped with 2 to 4Gb RAM or higher and hard disk ranging from 320 to 500Gb, also 250 with some brands. Since you are having a dual core and if it is maintained well then you can get a good amount on its selling. For having windows 7 you can simple install it in your laptop but if you want 'tons of space' as you have mentioned then upgrading is the best option. There are so many brands out there with similar configurations but with a slight price difference. As there are no specific recommendations from me on brands but you should try Sony vaio, HP & Dell. Before buying you should do a study on pricing, configurations, special features etc to figure out what you want & which brand fulfills it. As for quality HP is unbeatable followed by Sony Vaio which is stylish. Dell is good brand but loses some glamor when it come to battery problems. May be you will have a different opinion afterwards but if you really want to change then go for it.

I say if it does what you want to do, then keep it as long as possible and save up for a new laptop. If it has problems, then replace it for a new version. I would hold out a few more months though because Windows 8 is due to be released soon. When that happens the prices on the Windows 7 computers will plummet and you can get a Windows 7 computer super cheap, saving yourself some money.

Looking at the specifications, I think your laptop is still worth taking. If you want Windows 7.0, you can upgrade Windows XP. Only problem with the operating system (OS). Used laptops, to be cheap. Probably about $ 500.

kirankumar It depends on the purposes for which you are using the laptop. If you take laptop to office or for business meetings then it may be worth considering replacing it with a latest one -- small in size and with latest configurations. I would suggest your going for HP laptop latest. Please visit the nearest HP showroom and check up the prices. also check up prices beforehand through online. The new one should have inbuilt camera, DVD player/recorder etc. best wishes

You want Win7? Then just create a partition (if you don't want to reformat your computer) and then install it. You want tons of space? Then just get yourself an external hard disk. Or replace the one on your computer and hire a technician. Intel i7 CPU? Better go to the nearest service center of your computer and inquire if you can upgrade your processor. I think some computer stuffs are replaceable. Certainly, you may not need to get a new one. But if you really want to sell it, you can just surf the internet and check the recent market price of your computer. From there you may already have an idea of how much your computer costs now. Of course, when you sell it, you just need to give a discounted price since it has been already used by you for the past 4 years.

Maybe, you'd better purchase a new one. Cause the current one is needed to be upgraded urgently. For instance, hard drive, RAM and operation system are too much below the average level, to compare with the latest laptops. I guess your laptop should be sold with the price of $250. Good luck
