Hey there everyone. Have you ever seen a laptop being stolen? Or maybe just heard about your friends laptop getting stolen? Well, I actually experienced a laptop getting stolen two times in my life.
So the first time was when two friends (one was my cousin) came from far away. They came here to do some things and they decided that they would stay with us for the night. After we picked them up at a mall we decided to take them out to a grill restaurant that my family always go to.
We had a van back then so all my family and the two visitors could fit inside the van. When we arrived one of our friends asked us, "Will we bring our bags down?". They had just arrived from far away, so they had brought many bags, two bags each and so there were four bags in all. Somebody in my family, i forgot who, said that they didn't need to bring their bags so they just left them there on the van. I'm not really sure why they asked if they will bring their bags down. But I realized later that it would have been much better if they did.
Usually when we go to that grill restaurant we usually take the table in front of our car so we can see it. But that time, I don't know why really, my dad parked the car in front of a table of someone else. Maybe there was no other parking space, I don't remember so well. But that was a bad mistake.
After we went down from the van me and some of my siblings stayed back for a while to make sure all the doors of the van were locked, this is something that we always do. It was all locked so we went to the table and we ordered some stuff.
While waiting for our food to arrive my cousin decided that she wanted to get her camera so she could take pictures. So she left with my sister to the van to get her camera.
And that's when all the bad stuff happened. My sister and my cousin came back asking "Did we bring the bags here?" There was confusion and everyone looked for the bags. Me and my siblings all went to the van to do a little inspecting. And when we went in there was just two bags left! We searched and searched but we didn't find the two other bags. The grill owners called the police. But the stolen bags were nowhere to be seen.
One bag of each of our visitors was stolen. I forgot what my cousin lost but what our other visitor lost was so important. She lost her dad's laptop which had lots of important files. It was so confusing and strange that night. I forgot what happened for the rest of the night. The next day we decided to just forget about those bags and enjoy the time while our visitors were in our house.
Lawas Kapuy is the name of the police in charge of finding the thief. Funny because here Lawas means body and Kapuy means tired. haha. But here is the story of what the police think that happened. We will probably never know if this is the full story but this is what the police think.
So first it was a bad place to park. We parked right in front of the suspected thieves, a Chinese smoking man. This Chinese man has two partners.
So when we parked in front of him the Chinese man quickly called his partner who was an expert at car keys and told him to give him a key for our van. When the key arrived the two partner of the Chinese man hid themselves in the car beside our van. They Chinese man was their lookout. They opened the side door of the van and one my one they would take a bag and go back inside their car. They were only able to take two bags because my cousin wanted to get her camera.
When my sister and cousin arrived at the van my sister noted that the door was half closed. The Chinese man probably gave a signal and his two partners quickly hid in the car next to the van.
The alarm was sounded and everybody was alert so the thieves couldn't take the other two bags so they probably made an escape. I don't know how really. I actually stared at the thieves car for a while but didn't see anything. Somebody said that he saw two girls rushing into a bunch of houses nearby. That's the suspected partners of the Chinese man.
The suspected Chinese man actually already has police records. The police asked us if we ever saw the guy in the picture and he looked exactly the same as the Chinese man in front of our van so he's the suspect.
The police tried to look for him and my brother tried looking for laptops for sale because we just might find the laptop of our friend.
That was a long story! But here's the second time I experienced a laptop getting stolen.
It was a normal afternoon at our house. It was about 2:30pm and nothing really unusual was happening at all. Dad was calling his cousin on the phone and mom was asleep. Me and my sister were outside checking our custard apple tree if there were fruits or not and my brother was giving our dog a bath (the dog in my profile picture). Then all of a sudden from the road and man came running! It was obvious that he was running away from something but we didn't really know.
Me and my sister are kinda scared to be seen by strangers in our place. We thought he was a visitor of our neighbor and he was running away from our neighbors dogs. We ran back to the house. Dad was staring out the window while calling so he saw the man running. My dad quickly shouted angrily at the man saying "Hoy! Nag unsa man ka diri?" which means "Hey! What are you doing here?".
The man of course didn't answer. He ran to a cement wall and tried to climb it up. But it was no use because dad was already there. He was bringing a wooden baseball bat. My dad kept on shouting at him "Nag unsa man ka diri?". Dad met the guy a very close range, dad saw his face very clearly but he didn't strike him with the bat.
The man made a run back down the road. The man was limping and he was very slow. My dad and my brother chased him hesitantly with baseball bats. They went down the road so I wasn't really able to see what happened after that. But here's the full story.
So this thief, he obviously planned very well for this day. Before you come to my house you have to go inside a street from the main road, go inside a grey gate (which is always opened), there you will find the house of neighbor 1 and make another turn before you can see my house and neighbor 2's house. Before you make the final turn to see my house there is a cement wall. On the other side of this wall is some apartments. The only place where you can see the cement wall is from neighbor 1s house.
There was a tree growing beside the cement wall. The thief's plan was a very good plan. His plan was he would dress nicely, climb the tree beside the cement wall, go inside the apartments through a window, steal some stuff, climb down the tree, go out and walk normally because no one will suspect that he stole stuff because he was wearing formal clothes.
His plan was even perfect timing! Usually here at 2:30 people are taking naps, working or schooling. So first he waited for neighbor 1 and 2 to leave. He was successful because neighbor 1, a bunch of girls, went to buy some stuff and soon after that neighbor 2 left his house. So the man climbed the tree into the apartments, opened the window, stole some stuff but as he was coming down, neighbor 1's girls were done buying stuff. They actually just went out to buy coke that's why they were back fast. They saw him climbing down the tree.
They probably shouted at the man or something. And the man probably jumped down from the tree and sprained himself, which is probably why he was limping. Mariselle (the name of neighbor 1) and the other girls were blocking the main exit so the man decided to run toward our house and search for an exit there.
The man probably thought he could find an exit in our house because before there used to be a passage way from our house to the streets. A secret door which is cemented now. But he probably didn't know it was cemented.
When he went to our house he probably thought that there will be no one because he saw neighbor 2 leave. But he forgot that there are two people living in our place. He failed to climb the walls and dad was already very near him.
Dad said that he didn't strike because he wasn't sure. The man was Chinese (again) so my dad said that maybe the man was being chased by someone. So my dad didn't strike him he just kept shouting at him. The man probably didn't understand the shouts so he just ran. My dad and brother could have easily outran the man but they didn't know if they should catch him or not.
Mariselle had a huge mistake. She already saw the man climbing down the tree with a bag so she should have known he was a thief. But when she saw him coming she stopped him but let him go. I don't know really i didn't see but that is what my brother said.
I don't know how he got away limping like that. But he did! Later that day the police and the owner of the apartment came to our place to ask dad about what happened. Dad learned that what was stolen was a laptop, an Ipod and money!
That thief could have been easily stopped but it was his idea of being formal so no one will notice that took effect. It stopped dad and brother from really striking him with their bats and forcing him to give the bag that he had. Dad said that if he wasn't a foreigner or if he knew he was a thief he wouldn't let him go.
So that is the two long stories of my experience with stolen laptops. Have you ever experienced a stolen laptop? If so, tell me about it!
None of my family's laptop has been ever stolen so that's good. How about you?

It was bad luck of your visitor, but what i am thinking is that where are you from? because i think that in foreign there are very strict rules about these kind of things and people doing this kind things should caught by the police as soon as possible.

Hi there aliqasim94!
I live here in the Philippines. Here there are quite many thieves the police aren't very good. So usually if a laptop gets stolen from you they probably can't find it unless the thief gives it back.
But apart from the thieves part Philippines is a very nice country. The people are nice, the places are nice so it's good.
Where do you live?
