It is a real bad start for India at the Olympics. The Archers finished last in the classification and then got a tough draw against Japan. Though they fought hard, they got knocked off in the tie break. Jwala Gutta and Diju lost in their opening doubles match against Indonesian opponents in the badminton competition. In weightlifting and in Boxing, India's competitors also got knocked off. The only good news of the day so far has been Kashyap winning his opening match in Badminton.
Cheers!

In badminton, Saina Nehwal will be one of the favorites for the woman's singles. She is a determined player and always makes come backs when she is pressured. In men's singles, it will be hard to win a medal. I remember the Indian badminton great, Prakash Padukone. He retired in 1991. It is too bad that badminton only appeared for the first time in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. If it were in the early 80's, Prakash Padukone would have been a strong bet for the gold.
The Indian men's hockey team is also a medal prospect but will have to overcome Germany, The Netherlands, Korea and New Zealand who are all ranked higher than India.

For the Indian hockey team getting through the group stages might be very difficult. They are in a real tough group and the blue turf used these days does not suit their game. I am more looking forward to shooting and boxing as our medal prospects. Of course, Saina is one of our favorites.
Cheers!

yes i second your thought.
It was the worst possible start by the indian contingent, with the Indians loosing out is badminton, archery, table tennis, boxing and weightlifting.
Kashyap winning his 1st round was the savior of the day and i hope that the 2nd day would bring good news for us Indians as we are also in the fray on the 2nd day.
