Back when this movie came out, it was all the rage. It was one of the most popular movies of the year, and one of the most popular horror flicks over years and years. I just didn't get around to seeing it. I don't know what it was, I even had it on my computer for a while, but I just never got around to seeing it. So, yesterday, a friend of mine had the movie around, and we decided, hell, why not see it. But, it really wasn't that great...the second act of the movie was really boring and slow, the dialog was alright, and there was a laugh here and there, but it was mostly just the generic story... boy meets girl, boy looses girl, tough guy cries, girl works out her problems... it just wasn't much of a zombie movie, or much of a comedy, or much action, or anything. Granted, there are some real fun scenes in it. The first act is a lot of fun, and there's a big Bill Murray part which is a lot of fun, but the rest of it wasn't that great. I don't need to see it again. I'm more thinking it would be a good movie for someone who was first able to see an R rated movie for the first time. It was a kid-turning-adult kinda movie. Nothing that amazing. But, I must be partly wrong, because it's average rating on imdb is 7.8, which is really high. I gave it a 5. What do you think?

it wasnt as popular or big as u described ..wasnt even a horror movie of the year types..in any newspaper etc..USA or abroad.. but was actually well received in cinemas for those bits of comedy thrown in..and weirdness of Woody harrelson as the main lead.. was overall a mild zombie/modern sitcom/kill em all' type of film genre i should say.. yeah i agree the rating in imdb is too high for the likes of movie this kind..lol i might be giving 6/10 myself..

I think a big part that got it praise was just how much people are loving zombies... and I think this one was taking after "The Zombie Survival Guide", which made #1 in books over a long time.

yeah... i guess so..because at the beginning of ZOmbieland they had a narration of somekind of guide on what to do..not to do .incase of a zombie attack etc.. and that Jesse eisenberg kinda doing cool acting..loved him in Social Network..and voice over talent in RIO..animated film.

I don't like it either, but I love the characters in the movie. They each have great movies though.

guess he is refering to the actors ..such as Dan Akroyd and Woody Harrelson who been in a better films in the past.. if i have to choose 1 each.. best Woody Harrelson film gotta be NAtural Born Killer" while Akroyd gotta his part in the GhostBusters.

I don't know where you got that information. It certainly wasn't "all the rage" or the most popular. You are obviously reading the wrong materials. As you found out, it is a lousy movie!

I agree, it's lousy, I've just had many times where people said to me, "You haven't seen it yet? Oh my god! You gotta see it! It's great! I mean, why else did it get 7.8 on IMDb or 90% on Rotten Tomatoes? Maybe it's just the kids that really love it. I admit, I bet if I saw it when I was 18, I would have loved it, too.

yeah..i guess its kids who registered as a member of imdb and kept on voting for ratings for Zombieland.. was just an ordinary film..
