When I was a child, my mom always forced me to sleep in the afternoon. She said that its vital so that I can grow big. But eventually now that I am an adult, as much as possible I do not take any sleep in between otherwise, I will have difficulty sleeping in the evening. But this doe not mean that I am not advising and afternoon nap, I have read several articles that it does provide beneficial effects to our health.

I agree with you. I love to take a nap. It really does help me for the rest of the day. If I don't get a nap in I start to feel tired earlier. So I try to remind myself that when my daughter takes a nap I need to lay down as well.

Yeah there is a lot to get done when my daughter is up. She keeps me pretty busy. Sometimes things go smoothly and at other times not so smoothly. So it's good for me to try to be rested so that I don't feel so overwhelmed.

haha... oh yes, because when your daughter is awake, there is nothing you can do all about it because you need to watch her thoroughly. it is a tiring activity, taking care of our daughter. i had an experience like that, i used to be a nanny to my younger siblings that when they nap, i will take a nap also because when they woke up, i need to be watchful to their activities so that they will be okay and do not be harmed. its the only caprice we have to relax our body from hardworks and stresses. :) gee

I do take an afternoon nap during my lunch break at work. I do work from home though but every 12:30nn - 1:30pm is lunch break in our company's headquarters so I take my break in the same hour too. I get relieved not to be able to attend to chat requests from clients during that hour, even for a little while.
I have also heard from a friend that if you didn't have enough sleep during the night, you can actually make up for lack of sleep by taking afternoon naps.

when at work before i cannot totally had my nap more if the boss is in the office. awkward feeling, that is (hehe). but when i am so tired and never had a fine sleep during the night, i will really sleep during break time. it is true that you can patch the sleepless night by sleeping during daytime. but to say it have differences really more if you are not used to do it. but for those people who worked at night time, they do not have a choice but to sleep at daytime. I take 5-minute power naps in the afternoon. Not actually a siesta though. That's a bit longer. Lately I don't have the luxury of time to do that during work days :( But you're right that naps could really give you back your strength and relieve headaches. That's what I did before each time I felt drained or having work-related headaches. And each time after a short nap, I'm really feel refreshed. :)

we really need to sleep to relax our body. had you notice that your skin looks so dry if you do not have enough sleep and you will be pale - looking. it will not just invigorate you but it can also make your skin glowy. but most of the times, we feel like to choose boggling ourselves in the internet rather that taking a nap. but for me, i will really force myself to sleep because i do not want to suffer the consequences after from too much stress and tiresome netting. oh yeah :)

Very well said there missjahn
Siesta is something a luxury to me. I need more of that especially now that I'm in a graveyard shift. Sleeping is something I need to do when I'm on my day off so I can work efficiently and have fresh ideas to anything. Thanks

yeah, siesta may very essential to people who needed it the most like you when cannot have a good nice sleep during sleeping hours for they are doing something important like work during night hours or any activities that made them sleepless. you cannot survive to your daily works if you are lacking sleep. it may give you the worst results to your task if being tired. so that is why, do not force yourself to work further; just take it easy first, relax and have a nap. thanks for the response...

Hello missjahn,
Sleep is really important for proper functioning of your body. I usually get a short nap of 5-10 minutes when I found myself too tired and exhausted. And I found it helps a lot to and my productivity gets improve.

hi there. oh yes you are right. our body needs rest and enough sleep. we cannot do our job properly and cannot expect a good result when we are yawning while working. it is just useless if we cannot see the work of our labor if it has a deformity on it because we are just so tired and sleepy during the time we are making it. so if you are tired, get some sleep and after that, continue your works and you will see the good result.
