I just sold one thing on Yardsellr recently and realized how they pay you. I have yo send the item out and give the d/c first before they send me payment through the site. They pay after 2-3 days. I don't know if I care for that. Would you feel comfortable mailing out a pkg before the site pays you via the buyer?

Yea, but in that case you would have to refund and keep the item again. I just think the overall thing I hate about it is the fact they expect you to ship it before you receive the payment, it doesn't seem right. No company I know of has done that as far as mail order at least.

I learned about that kind of site in one of my business classes. The customer pays for the item and the money is held in an escrow account until the customer receives the item. Many places are doing that kind of thing because of the amount of scams that people bite on. This is done especially when a credit card is used for payment. It involves contact with the company that you are selling the item through, and providing proof that you sent the item.
I don't know if I am comfortable with that kind of situation, but I do understand it.

I would never wait til they receive an item, it is similar to this site though. I would worry about all the things that could go wrong between then and getting paid. Glad you understand it though, cause I really don't. Things aren't being too fair to the seller anymore. Hopefully all the other sites like ebay, etc. won't adopt this kind of payment method eventually.

Wow!! I have never heard this one about that site, and I know people who use it all the time. Do you know if the person has paid yet when they make you do all of this? I guess this would make me a little leary, especially if it was a Big item where it would be a little more to ship. This would be worth looking into and see if it NOTED in the rules, etc when you first sign up to sell something.

I suppose you could sent them the delivery confirmation, then wait the 3-4 days or whatever it takes for them to send the payment. That way at least you know you have the payment, if that is a way of working around it at all. They are supposed to have paid, through the site itself, but the payment doesn't get to you unless you give them a delivery confirmation # which means you probably mail it out after the D/C in most cases. But I would hold onto it til the payment was in my paypal, from now on. I don't care if it takes alittle lonmer, it just makes it feel securer for me, the seller.

The same thing happens on Amazon. They did not take my money out of my account until the item was shipped, then when they shipped it the company was paid. I think many sites are doing this now. I would not like to be the seller in this situation though. Most of the people selling on Amazon are companies though so its not such a big deal for them, they already have money...

I agree with you, it's not fair for individual sellers. It is expensive shipping things out. I would not be able to afford it thats for sure and most people can't!

You would get the money but it would be around 2-3 days later, thats the hitch. I'm not too sure of that as I'd need the money upfront from the web site if the customer paid them. I don't know why they have to put the money on hold, first. Security reasons maybe? Hmmm, not right though.

I think so too, there are problems within the site other than what I mentioned too apparantly as I read through more and more of it. Who has the money these days to ship something out before they get the money to pay it, it's not really good for the sellers.

Supposedly they (the customers) do pay the web site, then the web site holds the money in their account until they get notice of you sending them a delivery confirmation # which means you have shipped the item, or plan to. Then 2-3 days or so later you do get the payment, but still I'm not comfortable with that.

i'm not sure if i wanna continue there, i put some things up there prior to my surgery thinking i would not get any bids right away anyways and right after the week it was done i had a buyer, for some beeswax i sold. i will l eave what i have up for now but not sure if i wanna list anything more. i didn't read the tos before i used the site about this, i figured it was just like most other sites where you sell things and they pay you up front like normal.
