I am highly alergic to poison ivy and thank goodness I did not get into any this year and my husband was telling that a red tomato would work for the rash because of the acid in them and it would clear it up.

Luckily poison ivy is not something that we have ever had to deal with at our house because none of the four of us have ever gotten poison ivy. However, my little brother is highly allergic to poison ivy, to the point that all you have to do is say poison ivy and he will get it. Well, when he had it the worst he had to be on prenisone to help with the healing of it and the pediatrician also suggested that he spend as much time in the swimming pool as possible because it would help to dry it up. So, I can't tell you if tomato would help with poison ivy, but I hope that maybe I gave you another idea that is pretty cheap as well.

No we use vinegar for the same reason though the acid eats or dries out the oils from the poison ivy. Hubby is deathly allergic to the poison ivy. About 3 years ago he was hospitalized for three weeks as it spread to face mouth then to lungs. Scary that was. Luckily the girls seem to be like me and have no allergy to it at all.
