Hey there everyone! So there are lots of sports action going on at the Olympics. But I only follow my country the Philippines and football. So far the football at the Olympics has been a little different than what I expected. Here are my thoughts. Group A: Great Britain - 4 points Senegal - 4 points Uruguay - 3 points UAE - 0 points (Cannot qualify) My thoughts on Group A before the Olympics began were different from what is happening. I thought Great Britain and Uruguay will win their first two games and battle for first place of the group. I thought that Uruguay will win all their matches on the group because they had Suarez and Cavani. But I was wrong because I didn't know just that just 2 players can't change a team. Great Britain are doing alright. I knew they weren't going to win all the games. But I'm scared for Uruguay, a loss to Great Britain would send them out of the tournament. I'm surprised by Senegal. I didn't expect them to even have a chance at that group. But they played it very well, a draw vs Great Britain and a win vs Uruguay. Now all they need is a point to qualify! I don't really want Senegal to qualify because I like Great Britain and Uruguay. But anyway here is my dream score for the last game of the group. Great Britain 2 - 2 Uruguay and Senegal 0 - 3 UAE. Final standings will be: Great Britain - 5 pts, Uruguay - 4pts -1gd 4gf, Senegal - 4pts -1gd 3gf(so they're behind Uruguay) and UAE - 3pts. I know it's quite hard for UAE to beat Senegal but the ball is round, anything can happen. Group B: Mexico - 4 pts South Korea - 4 pts Switzerland - 1 pt Gabon - 1 pt This is an interesting group because all the teams here still have a chance to qualify for the knockout stage. This group is going perfectly the way I want it because I like Mexico and South Korea. I don't know anybody in my two teams for this group but I like the seniors so I will also like the u-23. The last day of this group is going to be a very, very interesting one. Switzerland need at least a 2-0 win vs Mexico to qualify and Gabon need at least a 3-0 win vs South Korea. Meanwhile Mexico and South Korea just need a point to secure a place at the Quarterfinals. There were no real surprises for me on this group. Maybe on the last day something amazing will happen. Here are my predictions. Mexico 3 - 1 Switzerland and South Korea 2 - 0 Gabon. Final Standings Mexico - 7 pts +4gd, South Korea - 7 pts +3gd, Switzerland - 1pt -3gd, Gabon - 1pt -4gd. Group C: Brazil - 6pts (Qualified) Belarus - 3 pts Egypt - 1 pt New Zealand - 1pt The only thing that I thought will really happen in this group has happened, Brazil dominated. There is a slight twist to this because I thought that Egypt will come in second (They still can). Brazil have a great u-23 team. And Neymar is a world class player. I hope he transfers to Europe already, he's wasting his time at Brazil. Brazil was one of my favorites before the tournament began and they're showing us that they can win the whole thing. Egypt vs Belarus will be a good game to watch. Belarus need at least a point to qualify and Egypt need a win. I might watch this game instead of the Brazil-New Zealand one because both nations have to try their best. But wait! New Zealand still has a chance. The ball is round, anything can happen. The first three paragraphs give a feeling that New Zealand can no longer qualify. But they can! They just need to put on their best performance vs Brazil. A victory will give them a big chance! :D So here are my last day of the group predictions. Brazil 3 - 0 New Zealand and Belarus - 1 2 - Egypt. Final standings will be Brazil - 9pts, Egypt - 4pts 0gd, Belarus - 4pts -1gd, and New Zealand - 1 pt. Group D: Japan - 6pts (Qualified) Honduras - 4 pts Morocco - 1 pt Spain - 0 pts (Cannot qualify) This is by far the most shocking group for me. The u-23 team of Spain have disappointed everyone. I was expecting Spain to win their group meet Brazil in the semifinal and Spain will go into the final and win! But it's sad to say they didn't even pass the group stage. :( I was expecting it to be Spain with 9 points and Japan with 6 points. So when Spain lost to Japan I hoped that maybe Spain could still get 6 points and Japan 9 but ahh.. I'm super disappointed. I just hope Spain will win against Morocco on the last day so there will be some last day happiness. So that's all that I can think about Group D. When I heard group D of Olympics I think about how disappointed I was with Spain. :( Last day predictions. Spain 1 - 0 Morocco and Japan 3 - 2 Honduras. Final Standings Japan - 9pts, Honduras - 4pts, Spain - 3pts, and Morocco 1pt. Knockout Stage: If all my predictions come true than the Quarterfinals will be. Japan - Egypt, Mexico - Uruguay, Great Britain - South Korea and Brazil - Honduras. I think Japan will win over Egypt, Uruguay win vs Mexico, Great Britain win vs South Korea and Brazil win vs Honduras. If that happens the semifinal will be Uruguay - Japan and Brazil - Great Britain. I think that Uruguay will win over Japan and Brazil will win over Great Britain. So that will be the last day of football at the Olympics. I think Great Britain will take the bronze medal and the gold????? BRAZIL! Hahaha. I think they have a really great team. In some teams their Over-aged players are the only ones that people really know but Brazil? I know a lot of their youngsters. So that are all my thoughts and predictions of football at the Olympics. What do you think about my thoughts and predictions?

I think Brazil are the favorites, but Japan has so far been really good. I would really love it if Japan can really pull it off as it would be a first major win for any of the Asian countries in a major tournament. I still think that it is going to be tight between GBR and Uruguay. I think Uruguay has a big chance to winning a medal as well. Cheers! Ram
