After watching the team competition for Gymnastics, I really have to feel for team Ukraine who were edged out of a bronze medal when the disastrous Japan decide to appeal for their team's score. Even in sports like the Olympics, there will be times you just could not always have it your way. The appeal was taken into consideration and the appealing team - Japan, was eventually accorded the points which subsequently led to Team GB getting the bronze medal instead of the silver and Ukraine from the winners' podium. I do not know what team Ukraine will be now, but I don't think they can sleep well tonight. However, I hope that the participants will be able to get over their misfortune and miseries to make a comeback on the forthcoming individual competitions. Good luck Ukraine and congratulations to Great Britain for their historic achievement in Gymnastics. Not forgetting, China for their memorable Gold medal performance.

For me, I have no problem enjoying the Games but I do not like those technical moments especially when the team like Japan does not deserve it after committing so many mistakes in their routines. As the saying goes, rules are meant to be "broken" - I suppose Japan saw the opportunity to exploit the technicality and worked well to their favor this time. So, like boxing Ukraine was technically knocked out of their bronze medal win.

Japan wasn't trying to be greedy. They just thought that Uchihara or whoever he is should've gotten points for that landing - at least he landed on his feet, not his @$$. I think you also ignored Uchihara's comment about the appeal - he didn't really see any difference between 2nd and 4th place.

I am sorry but I don't get what you mean here about Japan wasn't trying to be greedy. I have to disagree but Japan was indeed greedy and would go all the way with their appeal. As it turns out, Japan actually won on a technicality, knocking down Great Britain and out Ukraine. I think this has to be the most ugly controversy of the Games as far as team gymnastics is concerned. Lastly, lest Uchihara is a mathematics illiterate I don't think he did not see the difference or the outcome of a successful appeal. It is really quite clear without a calculator.

I was watching the whole scene pan out and it was really heartbreaking for the Ukraine team. The moments were very tense, but then Japan team broke into cheers as they were promoted two places. The Ukraine team really looked shattered, but that is understandable, as just moments before the bronze medal was hanging of their necks in their minds and then it was cruelly snatched away from them. Cheers! Ram
