I have been a linux user for 12 or so years..I am just to cheap to have to pay for upgrades, virus and malware software. I am just amazed at the industry that is involve with the windows software. If everyone as as cheap as me the economy would even be worst. All the business different business involved keeping your windows Pc running. I started out with Red Hat , the went to Mandrake..Now I am using Ubuntu. and I can do darn near everything everyone else can do. But in the 12 years I have been on linux I have never had a virus, or malware, or worms.. I can open those scary emails because they bugs they put in the emails can't read linux. so I am wondering how many people use linux and what distro are you using. thank you

Linux do have viruses, malware, and others. Linux has slowly developed because its open community that has contributed to it greatly. What can I say is that it started out with just 2% of the world use by 2000 it was around 21% and now around 40% to 60%. When it has all its needs as it available for windows and all market depend on linux then we will have those tough softwares for linux too with all games and graphics for linux only material. go FOSS

Yea that may be true but in the 12 years I have been using linux of some flavour I have never had a virus or worm or even malware. I have web sites that I build.. I am all over the net.. and I love to open those crazy spam emails to see what they are,, they are hijacked web sites usually. I have a 18 year old that used my computer and you can imagine what an 18 year look at and still no virus.. and did you know the movie Shrek ( Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy) was made using linux system.. and they where amazed at the money they saved using linux I put my security in linux system any day.

Well I never knew that Shrek was made in Linux systems. But I know that first 3D game half life2 was developed in Linux for linux. I never played it. But think that was a great move for what so ever but I would continue like to see it grow like this.

I am also a huge lover of windows once upon a time but after i got use to linux i never returned back to windows.. First of all i started linux with ubuntu and then went to suse and again to debian finally now in fedora i wont stop with fedora definately try other things in linux os.. since my job is in linux environment i got used to linux oses.. The main plus point of linux is less vulnerable to virus than windows..

My first Linux installation was a slackware , circa 1995, but I did not kept it and came back to Windows -- 3.1 at the time --. I have today Gentoo on my laptop, an homemade Puppy on my notebook, Angstrom GPE -- Debian based+Gnome -- on both an old Palm Lifedrive -- dual boot with PalmOS -- and an Archos tablet -- a dual boot with Android --. Without or with very few malwares, Linux is perfect to surf the web safely at full speed and to offer a new life to old PDAs.

Windows for entertainment, online/offline game. Linux for design work.
