Hi mylotters! Our baby is about 2 months old and what really keep us worrying is that our baby seldom find it hard to breath right after waking up from sleep. When he is stretching after waking up, he suddenly turns so red and as we notice, he can't breath... Me and my wife then panics, don't know what to do about it. We just carry him and wait till he finds his breath. But last night, it took quite a little too long already that my wife had no choice but to ran to our neighbor and ask for help. Luckily she's a nurse and knows what to do and she really handled the situation immediately. My wife was so relieved but still had to make sure our babies alright so my wife and her sister went to hospital. I on the other had was at work and had to skip to see my family at the hospital. It was such a real trouble for us, and I really want to know how to prevent this from happening again, what are the precautions. And also, what are the things that causes this?

It is called apnea a period when breathing stops. It could be caused by prematurity where the muscles for breathing has not developed fully. There are ways to stimulate the baby to breathe by patting or rubbing the baby. Please visit this sit for more information preemies.about.com/od/preemiehealthproblems/f/asandbs.htm. I hope your baby overcomes it.

Blue, Red, Green - Blue baby syndrome (or simply, blue baby) is a layman's term used to describe newborn babies with cyanotic heart defects, such as:
Persistent Truncus Arteriosus
Transposition of the great vessels
Tricuspid atresia
Tetralogy of Fallot[1]
Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection
You were in the hospital, why didn't you ask the doctor? What did the neighbor nurse and the sister nurse say about these types of issues? I don't really know if it's the same with what my cousin went through when he was young. But my aunt would just worry to bits until someone told her to hold him up to the front of the electric fan. That did it for him. He breathed normally after such. I do hope there's nothing terribly wrong. But I surely would have talked to the doctor about it instead of mylot. Anyway, good luck! I hope everything is well. Have a great Mylot experience ahead!
