Cooking something special tomorrow

Tomorrow I will receive some money, not much, but it will be a great opportunity for me to cook something better than just a pot of white beans, lens or making sandwiches. At home we have few favorite dishes I cook every possible time. So I am thinking to make one of them tomorrow, which will be cabbage and pork. But ... here it comes my big BUT ... I wonder to do the same old, or to try some new recipe which we would like to taste. This is always a question in my mind. And I always prefer to cook something which I surely know how it will taste, I hate to cook things with the thinking that the cooking will not be so successful, because I prepare this for first time. So why would you suggest me? Same old or some new try? I am not in position to throw food and I always feel guilty when doing it.

When I cook something, I will never thought that it will taste good or not because in my opinion since I take the risk- to try the new or old menus- I need to make sure I finish them even if no one would like to eat them. I don't like to waste food so no matter how the taste is I will still eat them. So I don't have any problem to either stick to the old menus or try the new one.(^^)

There are things which my boyfriend doesn't eat. Such like green beans, tomatoes and roasted peppers stew did just like that or mixed with cheese and eggs, as we call it mish-mash when all is inside, fried peppers with cheese and eggs inside, salad of fried roasted peppers with garlic. I don't know why he doesn't like these things, but I don't pay attention to cook them for myself only. I love cooking, but using electricity for like 2-3 hours just to prepare something only for myself, makes me feel little uncomfortable. It would be much better if we had a fridge to put the leftover of my meal there kept on cold til the other day.

Since you're afraid of wasting the food (and the money) if you make something new, I think it would be wiser to make something you're sure the family likes.

My boyfriend's dad requested beans. I guess that's what I will cook tomorrow. The mom of my boyfriend is never at home to cook anything, so we will bring a plate there. I am thinking now to mix it with some meat, which I have done few times before and it was delicious. Last time I did it, it wasn't that good. But I will think of it. Thanks for the advice, reading your post I understood you know exactly what I meant.

Hello Suggar . I know just what you mean about trying something new and no one eating it or having to eat it all your self to keep from having to through it away. I would talk to my family and find out what they think. Talk to them before trying a new recipe. Show them a picture of what you want to try and ask if they would eat it. I love trying new things but my family isn't ways into try new things or cooking same thing in a new way. like the other day my granddaughter fixed zucchini squash in a new way. She dipped it in a tempura and deep fried it. Dad walks by and asks what is she doing and we put it in the skillet and fry it that way. That is the way to cook it. Well it was all eaten.

I am little worried about my cooking skills. Some things get delicious when I cook them for first time, but some not. It is the same with all cooks. I'm sure even the famous ones have foods that don't turn out very good. You don't get better if you don't try.

My boyfriend is having little strange tastes. He loves meat, he would eat probably everything I would cook for him, but this situation is little different. If he eats the same every day and he loves it, I am sure he wouldn't complain. I am little worried about my cooking skills. Some things get delicious when I cook them for first time, but some not ...

Haha. I suggest you make something new. My family don't usually try new foods here but when we do, it's always good and it becomes one of the regular meals. Oh and yeah. Make sure there is some meat on your new dish! Hahaha.

For sure I will put some meat, but I am worried to experiment, because if we don't eat it, I will have to throw it, which means the money I paid would be wasted.

Why don't you read a recipe somewhere on the internet? I'm sure there are millions of recipes that have been already tried and taste good.

yes friend, when it's just between you or your family, try experimenting on newer dishes, old family traditions I would believe started out that way, they discover something good so they cook it over and over again and it becomes a family tradition but started out only as an experiment so don't be afraid if you believe in your abilities. The old proven ones I guess is reserved for guests or special occasions cause there is no risk of it not coming out well

Probably I should try but something I am not very good at doing - something sweet like a cake. That would save me risk with the diner and if the dessert doesn't happen the way it was wanted, it would be o.k.

i think you should try something special, it more funny than same old, i like cooking and i enjoy delicious food, if you are not good at cooking, don't worry, just try it,maybe you can make some very delicious food and enjoy it. if you don't try, you will feel boring to eat same old food. if you failed, you have to throw them but don't feel guilty about it, as long as you try, you will acquire something you want.

I actually love the old dishes without any problems. I have no problem with that, but collecting new dishes in the list of the old ones, tested recipes is good thing too. I will think of it. Thanks.
