I have a cousin, he is in junior high now. He is afraid of thunder, when he is home alone he will turn on all the lamp even if it's just 10am, he will run if he see a cockroach, and the worst of all is he sleep with his parent in same bedroom. We have 2 bedroom upstair, one is mine and the other is supposed to be his, but he is afraid sleep alone. Sometimes when his parent go out till late, I have to wait and stay awake in front of TV with my cousin till they back home. Sometimes I make joke on him because he is growing teenager but still sleep with his parent. Thank God that he is nice, kind heart and smart at school atleast he has something to be proud of :D

Wow his parents really need to put their foot down and not let him keep coming in their bed. 13 is much too old for that sort of behaviour. They need to work out a way to make him stay and not be scared of thunder

Let him cry, he can't cry all night because that's tiring and he will have to fall asleep eventually. Maybe if they do that he will learn. Does he get teased at school for it? I sure hope they don't know or else that might get him in some trouble, kids are mean

I don't mean to tease, but have you tried giving him a teddy bear? It might help him out with his problem. Hope this helps.

My 12-year old son still sleeps with me in our bedroom. He's the youngest and really attached to me. I don't discouraged him to sleep besides me in bed. For me, he's still my baby, laughs. But another reason is he's there to accompany me since my husband is always away from home, working out of the country.
