Believe it or not, our Android phones have a few limitations. These limitations are set for safety mechanisms and to make sure that inexperienced users would not mess up (Brick) their phone. However, these limitations can be removed through rooting. To put it simply, here are the reasons why you should consider rooting your Android phone: 1. You would have the ability to install powerful applications 2. Better back up and restore 3. Ability to flash custom roms (believe me this is VERY COOL!) Of course, there are also a downside in rooting your phone: 1. Your warranty will be void 2. May create a serious damage in your phone if you did not follow the instructions correctly

I have a smartphone, and I have never rooted it. For one thing, I don't know how, and for another, I would be afraid that I would mess it up, and it is way to expensive to do that. I don't put all that many apps on my phone anyway, and the ones I have put on it, I haven't played them ll that much anyway. I do enjoy my phone the way it is,without rooting it. Take care, and have a very good day.
