I'm glad to be back here again on mylot after a couple of weeks in hiatus. What kept me away? Honestly, don't know the reason except for laziness. I've broken my vow again, but doesn't matter i'm reappearing once again. Now why do i feel like an idiot right now? I'm typing, in the dark with no difficulty except for the fact that i'm not used to this laptop. The keyboard has its own backlight which is very good in the dark because i could see all the characters. The screen is on hd and oh so clear to me. Why am i being an idiot? This darn thing is a mac and not a pc! I know shifting from pc to mac, I need a lot of getting used to. It's not as easy as i thought, it isn't a walk in the park for me. But anyway, i know in time i'm gonna love this macbook pro and won't ever wanna go back to using a pc again. Do you feel like you're being an idiot sometimes when something new comes along that you have to deal with?

Hi toniganzon , You are not alone in feeling this way. Whenever i get a new laptop or a phone it is same with me too. You have taken a big leap because i presume that your PC had windows and now you are on a totally different operating system Mac. So it would take you some time before you can master this new operating system on your apple laptop. My nephew recently brought a new cell phone Samsung S2 and I am yet to even find how to start this phone if it is powered off.

All PC's use windows and seldom lynux but there's not much difference in both. I guess the reason why i'm feeling like an idiot is because i easily learn fast. I thought it would be easy having an ipad and an iphone it wouldn't be difficult to handle a mac. But i was wrong. I guess i just need to get used to it and learn how it can make my life easier and fun. Samsung Galaxy S2 is powered on by pressing the button on the right side. However, you don't usually turn it off because to turn it off is to boot it. You just press the button at the bottom center and slide the screen and that depends on what android os you have. I'm already on ICS. Sorry i'm being a geek. And thanks.

Hi. I always feel like an idiot when I am doing something new! I think it happens to almost all of us. It would be the case especially when I do not know anything about what I am doing and have to learn everything from scratch. But I always tell myself that there are people who have been in the same position and then now they know more about it than any other. And it would be the same with me too. I tell myself that the start is always the hardest and once you get used to it, you will not know the burden at all. So don't give up.

Thank you so much. I'm just not used to learning slow. I'm a fast learner in almost everything including gadgets but not with this one.

I was challenged to immediately use it better and better, to be better than ever. In fact, sometimes I forget to take a break.

That is so true. I am so like that right now. It's the first thing i do when i wake up in the morning and still tinkering my macbook before going to sleep. Now i feel much better handling it and i'm downloading some great apps too. But there are still some functions that i don't know how to use it but i'm getting there. I've mastered the trackpad so far.

toniganzon most of us will feel so in new situations. anything new is not liked by people unless it is going to help them improved status or this one is better than the other. I also had problem in switching over form PC to laptop say five six years ago. now i am more at home with laptop. After getting used to a thing we will be at home. good day,

I also agree that most of us feel like this in the new situation and only few people will feel better. I also had a problem of switching over from PC to laptop and I did not know even how to open a laptop for lots of years until I saw one laptop and was able to type on it.

Been using a laptop for 5 years already but switching to mac from windows is just not that easy for me. I'm really a fast learner and in fact labeled as a geek. I think that's why i'm feeling a bit like an idiot with not learning as fast with a mac. But anyway, today i'm getting the hang of it and i'm loving how easy it is to go around with mac.

Many times I've felt like an idiot to new stuff too Normally switching from a new brand of mobile phone would make you look idiot. When I had a new phone and not familiar with the keys, I would have to stop on the street side just so I could finish off sms'ng a friend

Yeah it's true. However, when it comes to cellphones, i'm really good at tinkering with them and in a few minutes i become an expert.

LOL Its hilarious that your post reminded me of my baby sister. She made me feel really stupid and proud when i was a kid. I would do things to upset her and then get a lesson from my mom. Thanks for reminding me of those days long gone.

Thanks for sharing. There are really times when we feel so vulnerable and helpless. But all we can do about it is laugh.

It is always great to be on myLot and I also had been away for a couple of months before and now I am trying to be as much active I can. I think we are all lazy in some point in life. I would suggest you to have some led torch or led bulbs or small table led light that are used for laptops so that you can watch the keyboard when you want. Yeah friend, I have also felt I do not know something new tasks in my life before.

With a macbook pro, you don't need a bulb to see the keyboard at all. It has its very own backlight for that purpose. So even if you're working in the dark, you can see each and every keys and could work on your lappy comfortably. I always keep coming back with mylot. The longest i was gone was like 6-8 months. But i'm glad to be back as always. Nice to see you here.

I think that it is just a case of getting use to something new.I find it strange when I have to use a pc one day and the next I am back on my laptop. I have just bought myself a pc and it is on windows 7, my husbands is vista, my sons is windows xp, not that it should make any difference much, but to me everything seems different including their key pads, as one is a light touch another requires heavy fingers and mines easy.

Laptop is still a pc operating on windows. There's really not much of a difference with the windows os. I've been on my sony vaio laptop for two years and before that a toshiba laptop with different windows os. But i didn't have much trouble. But a jump to a mac is like learning from the beginning again though i know a few but not much. I though having an ipad and iphone would help me manipulate this gadget easier but i was wrong. I'm a fast learner and labeled as a geek by friends and this mac is getting into my nerve. lol

Hey, no one is an expert at the first time. After many failure or bump in the head, you learn. That is how things go. I would make million of mistakes too if I were you on the first time in Macbook. Anyway, welcome back to mylot, and I hope that you can enjoy here as much you do as on other websites. By the way, I would love to get myself a macbook too.

No problems with my mac so far. It's just me feeling a little awkward. But i'm loving it and i'm getting more accustomed to it now. It's way much better than a pc.

I never used a Mac but I would love to have one. The only problem is that I need Microsoft word and I cant have it on the Mac, so I need to stick with my PC.

Who told you you can't have microsoft word on mac? There's a microsoft office for mac. You can buy a license one which is of course is a bit costly or you can download one for free which is illegal but it's out there and you can use it. I have Microsoft office on my mac and i'm using microsoft word, excel, etc.

I believe everyone feels this way when they start something new, be it learning to drive, starting a new job, or learning a new device. Not being an idiot just getting adjusted.

Yeah i know i'm not being an idiot. But i just feel like i am one when something is out of my control. You see i learn pretty fast with most things, but not with this one. I need to learn this gadget more than i did with the rest of my stuff.
