Building your own computer

I'm pretty good with computer software, but when it comes to hardware, I'm a complete loser. I'm also looking at building my own new computer, since I've heard it's almost always cheaper. I'd appreciate some suggestions for what to buy (I want it to be a gaming computer, one that runs Oblivion and stuff like that), or even just what you guys have in yours. Thanks!
