Recently I asked whether to leave my family and work in the city or stay with them, unemployed. Now, my husband and I are planning to have a computer shop where I can manage, it is near the schools, houses and some offices. Great thing is, the place is owned by my husband's parents and they agreed, but with some renovation about the place. I don't have any experience managing a computer shop, we can get about 5-7 desktop, any suggestions what to include or how to make the place attractive to customers? and how to manage the biz? Thanks!

Good Day, dsw313! One good way to figure out what you might necessarily consider upon starting a business like that would be to ask other computer shops that you think are quite doing well. Not just those that have computer shops. You have already mentioned that your location is quite good since it is close to clients that would obviously need your services. To make it attractive, I would suggest that you can consider the convenience of your clients. Do you think that it would be okay for them to be seated a bit close to each other or you would like them to have space between each other to provide that kind of privacy? The seats might be often overlooked, but it does affect your patrons as they avail your services for a long duration. Mostly gamers might recognize this, yet it's up to you if you would be catering to these kinds of customers. Air condition is also something that you might have in your shop and it would be understandable if the fees that you might charge are higher than usual. Some computer shops that I have been would even serve their customer with snack that they can order. However, you do have to clean the mess right after. If you have that kind of thing going on, you would probably provide a comfort room for them if they get to order lots of drinks as they stay longer. Now, once satisfied with how things would go, you would probably consider those set ups wherein your counter would have the main server and it would be from there which you would enable or disable computers in your shop. Have your counter located where it would be convenient for you and for your clients when they try to avail or pay for the services without unintentionally making traffic in a way as customers come and go. Security is also something to think about as there is a chance that some opportunist would take advantage.

Thank you very much for that, Yes I am also concerned with the seats, whenever I go to a computer shop, sometimes I even think that my seat mate is trying to look on my monitor, and I am not that comfortable. I will take note on that. It is very hot in our area and the electricity is too high, I am considering an air condition but I don't know if I can afford it this time. I will make a survey this week on computer shops in our area, Thank you :)

You can consider dividers but I think there seems to be some requirements that you cannot have dividers on every computer on your shop. Though there is that thing about providing some privacy for your patrons, being a shop that caters to the public would cancel out privacy as most expectations from customers at computer shops is that the things that they would be doing on the computer would be tolerable for the general public, even if they don't really intend to look at what one is doing on the computer. To lessen the bill when it comes to electricity, most computer shops that I have been would avail those power saver things that they would plug close to an outlet that also provides the main source of electricity for all of the computers in the shop. I am not sure if they do really lessen the bill though.

Good Morning dsw313, If you are planning computer shop,I would suggest that you should consider a well ventilated or comfortable room to attract more customers, And if all seats are occupied you should have at least vacant seats for customer waiting to prevent the customer feel annoyed. You also need to compete to other shops near to your location, and most important of course is to have a fast internet connection. That would be all hoping for your business success! Goodluck! :))

Hi dsw! In addition to what our friends had said, consider the clients you have. There are several customers who enter the shop as a group to play a group game. Most of the time, these games are offline games. And they are so noisy, thus they might disturbed those customers who are researching and chatting with other friends or relatives from other places. I also wanted to open an internet shop but I can not do it this time because I still have to save money before I could start. Hopefully. Goodluck on your business.

Well, it is also good to start on a small capital. You can also invite you customers to join myLot.

That's a good idea, me too are being irritated by gamers whenever I use an internet cafe to check for my emails. However, the place that I will use is not that wide. Me too, I still don't have a big fund to start the shop, although we already have computers, I am thinking about renovating the area little by little to start. :)

As popularity of the internet continues to grow at an exponential rate, easy and affordable access is quickly becoming a necessity in life. you have to share Internet experiences in a comfortable environment. Install hot internet games with outrageous ping time. etc.

Thanks, a friend of mine who owns a computer shop before says the earnings is quite good, one of our problem here in our area is service providers cannot give us much higher speed connection. My cousin can provide me the latest online/computer games. Thanks

first of all, the store looks good , try to give a atmospheric feeling of scale, this is the first step to atttact customers. the next is the quality of your computers to ensure the problem, the attitude to be friendly. once again to pay attention to integrity.and good after-sale.
