Most TERRIBLE Wait

I just took the Nursing Licensure Examination last June 30 and July 1, 2012. For me, it was the most difficult exam in my entire life. What makes it worst is the result will be posted about a month after. So now here I am waiting the longest wait ever. I'm starting to have nightmares. I am also feeling the pressure from friends and acquaintances. Gosh I'm going to go crazy.
Have you guys experienced waiting for something that causes so much anxiety? What can you suggest to me to relieve my nerves. I would also like to hear your experiences.

Being an undergraduate college student, I haven't gotten to the point where I take those big certification tests yet. Luckily, the longest I've had to wait is for the final exam grades to be posted online after each semester, and that's only a few weeks. What also makes it easier is that it's more predictable what grade you got.
It's a whole different animal with certification tests and the like, because it's pretty straightforward: you either passed it or you didn't. No one's going to ask you, if you are certified, what score you got on the exam.
Anyway, my advice for you would be to tell yourself that there's nothing you can do to change the results of the test now, so there's no reason to worry about it to the point that you have anxiety attacks or something. I hope you pass.

Well you're right. I can do nothing about it now. But it's still so hard not to be anxious because I am afraid of the outcome and the possible embarrassment if I didn't pass.

Relax!!!
That is you want now. Any way, this is the time to be happy as long as you given the exams and why are you so panic? Let the result come and take a decision after it comes. Either clear or not clear. If cleared go ahead, if not, appear again. So simple and take it so lightly. If you are under pressure, you only going to face it and keep cool, you can enjoy the time.
Even I had same experience earlier also. But I always keep a cool minded approach, becuase there is no point in getting tensed. If we keep on getting anxious, we may rag others also into it.
So, be relaxed and wait till the results come. Nobody is going to kill you or exile you if you don't clear the exams. Train your mind to face the situations whatever we are in, and try to be relaxed at any situations that we are going to face.
Yes, there may be anxiety, but control and feel relaxed is the symbol of maturity. I hope you are a matured person.
All the best and have good luck.

Well I guess I'm not yet a matured person, but I'm on the process of becoming one (I hope).
Well if I would only think of myself, I wouldn't mind the result, but when I think of my family specially my mom and dad who have a lot of plans for me I feel very pressured.

Thank you for the encouragement. It seems like you are an awesome parent. I will tell my mom and dad to not make so many plans yet so that I can wait for my results peacefully.

Yes, that is what! Sometimes, even we can give them hope. Any way they are our parents and they may be having hope in their minds too, though it is all for our own good will. But when it cross beyond the control, everything will get out of our hands and leading to many unexpeted events.
However, be happy and peacefully wait for the results and please, forward my chocolates, that I am waiting for...
Be cool and relaxed.
Warm regards

Waiting for something is always frustrating. It happens to many of us. Waiting to hear on a good news, waiting for our credit approval, waiting on someone to come, waiting on a long ques...
Just try to do something else while waiting like gardening, tending to the family, sharing jokes with friends...

Well in my case I got a job to divert myself. But I think that I need to do more things so that I won't think about it. Thank you for the advice.

You're lucky it's just a month. With the bar exam it's 6 months. If you have a month to suffer from that sleepless nights and agony, how much more a person who took the bar exam.
I can feel you though, been there done that. I even got anxiety attack to the point that i was having some stomach problems that no medicine could cure. But it passed away anyway. Just pray and hang in there and everything will be fine. God bless.

Well I have heard about those anxiety attacks with physical symptoms that can't be medically cured, it's called somatic disorder. I thought that is only in the book. Now that you said you've experienced it I feel fortunate as my anxiety haven't reached that level yet. I only get nightmares.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It made me feel a little better. And yes you're right, I think I do need to pray more.

I really don't know which is more terrible, knowing the results soon after or after a while. When I took the CPA board exams, the results shall be posted at 12 midnight the same day of the last exam. Imagine, I was up since early morning for that last day of exam, took the last subject's exams, went home and never strayed far from the computer. I practically glued my butt in the seat waiting and refreshing the PRC website. When I receive text messages from classmates crying because they passed, I felt even more terrible. 12:00am came and no updates. 12:06am and there it is. I was a wreck while waiting for the pdf file to download. And when I found my name, all the hunger and pain came rushing in. I think I was able to down 3 cheeseburgers that same night lol. Most terrible wait ever for me.

Well I think I would prefer to wait for a day. I feel like PRC is prolonging my agony.
Anyway, reading your experience I feel that at the moment it was very terrible for you indeed, but when you found out that you passed it can become a funny matter already. I hope like you, I will fare well in that exam. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't feel any hunger at all. Like there's something heavy in my tummy, not the feeling of wanting to throw up but just every feeling I have seemed to just shut down that day. Or night. And yeah, the following day, of course my folks didn't know that I already knew from the internet. They came pounding on my bedroom door with the newspaper shouting and crying that I made it. I just opened my eyes, looked at them and said thank God. Then I returned to sleep. I swear my folks felt like they got doused with icy waters for my lack of reaction lol!
