Pushcarts and Babies / myLot

The weather was a bit sunny this morning, so I decided to do a bit of grocery shopping just to replenish our supply of snackies which my kid siblings feasted on during their "incarceration" (their classes are suspended due to the weather). Anyway, my lil sis tagged along, and while we were there with a basket, we saw this young woman with a baby on a pushcart. You get the picture, typical pushcart loaded with grocery items and the cute baby perched on the upper basket. As we passed them along, I can hear the woman talking to someone she met at the grocery, someone she knows. And then we heard a crash. We immediately looked back and saw the pushcart on its side, spilling its contents and a wailing baby. I swear my heart almost stopped when I saw how it almost crushed the baby, yet the young woman still managed a nervous laugh and say her kid is "so hard to control". Really, lady?

I feel so sorry for the poor baby falling out of the shopping cart. Yes, it falling over with all its contents spilled out could have crushed the baby. I am shocked the lady said her baby was hard to control. The lady should have been holding her baby giving him or her a check. A baby's head is very delicate so I hope she took her baby to see a doctor if he or she kept crying after that awful accident.

I agree, I'm really wondering how come the mother wouldn't think of that, why she has to think more of what other people would see and say than her baby's well being.

That's terrible

If common sense is not working, I think supermarkets are not short on posting warnings not to leave children unattended on pushcarts. Poor baby. I let my toddler ride pushcarts but she does not like it that much. I am also paranoid about taking my eyes off her.
