Tardiness Is an Epidemic

I really love my country and most of its places, people, culture and many more. But the one thing that really pisses me here and is very common to almost all of people here is their tardiness. Tardiness here is already an epidemic that almost all people are already infected. It really pisses me off arriving at the meeting place on time or maybe late for 5-10minutes and realizing that I am the only person there. I always end up waiting my co-members for about 1-2 hours and the worst experience was waiting for 4hours. For God's sake, when will this virus of tardiness will fade. It really dissolves the essence of time management here in our country for everybody already thinks that every activity, event and program will start 1 hour or more AFTER the scheduled time. On the bright side, no matter how stupid and common is this practice here. I always stand firm on my ground and continue arriving on time for I do not want to be part of the problem and excessively complaining but rather be part of the solution and starting some change. How about you, can you relate to these things?

hi, tardiness can seen anywhere, and also can be seen here in my country but not as yours that epidemic because it is still in a person on how he/she will discipline hie/her self to avoid late, maybe they already practiced to be late everyday in your place.

Yes, I can relate to this because I am also guilty about this issue. But I am trying to break this bad habit, little by little. As for you, congratulations for being firm in your principle regarding that.

I share the sentiments; and try to explain this "trait" of ours to a foreigner husband who grew up in an environment where people value time so much that they are always half an hour earlier to their appointment. In my previous employer, most of my co-workers even spent a great deal into allowing the management to have a 10-minute grace period tardiness when timing-in. How messed up is that? The management decided to just give in to what they propose, but they also put into effect the reward system for those who will always report for work on time and not within the grace period. I think that's fair, but still it shows how majority of the people in that 300-staff company are all "infected" with the tardy virus.

Agree with your opinion. However, people should really be working on their time managements with regards to this matter. We should practice this kind of thing even without the some rewards or punishments.

There is no excuse for being late to an appointment. Many times i have had to wait, then at times they don't show at all. If you were in another country and late like the "P" people are you would not have a job to go after the third time. They use the excuse "the traffic was bad, you know its going to be bad so leave home 15 minutes earlier and be on time. Get up earlier and go to bed earlier so you can.
