In less than a week, her nails have grown long enough to scratch her face

I have to trim my 2month baby's fingernails too often. I don't know if it's normal to be trimming every 4 or 5 days. I don't want to trim to short because the nailcutter might hurt her soft skin. So, I only trim enough that the nails won't hurt her. However, it grows too fast, and I need to trim again. It's a simple job but very tedious, because I have to be very careful not to cut her skin. The best time for me to do it, is when she's in deep sleep. That time, she won't be moving too much, and she won't mind me pulling her fingers one by one to trim on the nails.

That is very normal babies skin and stuff are still so bran new that things tend to grow really fast. That and every body is different even us adults our nails grow a little bit each day. I never really clipped my daughters nails even now but that is because they are still so soft to the touch that you can just pull the nail off at the point you want to get ride of with out using a nail clipper.

I always use nail clipper for them. My 4year old's skin around her fingernails easily breaks, and she gets hurt when she pulls it with her fingers. I would use the clipper to gently peel it off.

With 4 year old of course you need nail clippers there nails are much harder then a newborns. With the first 2 years you don't need a nail clipper to trim the nails you can just pull them. It's always best at any age to do it after a bath or when the hands are wet because the nails are wet and soft so they break easier and you can clip them easier to.

I haven't tried pulling off the nails just like that. I don't want to risk it either. There are tiny clippers fit for infants, and I got one for them.

Yes, that is normal to trim her nails that often. Aren't you simply amazed at how delicate she is? You are doing a great job at being so careful with her and cutting them when she is asleep. I wish I had thought of that. It sounds like it makes it so much easier. I used to stand and just watch my baby sleep and breathe and enjoy the contentment. They are so trusting and so peaceful. Enjoy the moments. It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job at parenting!

I have to wait till she's asleep, because when she's awake, she would always pull her hand back and won't let me hold it longer than 3seconds. And, if I insist, I might just hurt her.
