what's wrong with my dryer?

I thought the vent pipe to outside was clogged. As it fills up with lint and I usually end up poking it out with a chop stick til I can convince hubby to clean it out from the inside for me (I can't reach it). So he did that and it still doesn't dry. We replaced the belt a few years back when it wouldn't spin. But now it doesn't heat up, I swear I hear it ignite (gas) but still my clothes are wet even on high. What should we look at to figure out what's wrong? I know it's a 10yr old machine but I'd hate to replace it if we can fix it rather cheaply.
So right now I line dry everything and then just toss it in on tumble to soften things up and get rid of the lint. But I will only be able to do that for so long before it will take all day to dry anything outside.

First off, I have to tell you that I am not a dryer tech, so I really cannot be sure of what is wrong with your dryer. However, to me it sounds like the heater coil in your dryer might be something that is out. The best suggestion that I can make to you is to have a tech come in and check on your dryer. If it is something that is going to cost you a bit to fix, it really isn't all that hard to find a used dryer on Craig's List for less than one hundred dollars. That is how we bought our dryer three years ago and it is still working really well for us.

I don't know but I think it is time to change it. Mine are still working, washer and dryer they are going on 13 years old but I have to leave them behind because we can't have them in the apartment will be going to, they don't allow them. Each floor has a washer and dryer on it that you have to pay for.

If you're hearing the gas go on I can't think of why it would not be doing the job. Take the front off and watch to see if the gas goes on. Is your lint trap cleaned out, do you clean it before or after every load? That could affect it and also cause a fire if you don't clean it regularly, as can a lint-loaded vent pipe. If all else fails you can look up that brand and model on the net and read the manual or maybe find a Q/A posted by someone with a similar problem.

Oh some technical problem with your dryer. The best would be call a technician and have it fixed. It must not cost much. Once technician visits, he will tell you what to do next. But don't try to fix it yourself if you don't know about it because you might end some spoiling some other part or make it worse. thanks for sharing, have a wonderful day.
