Hi all, Well, my Laptop is getting old. It's a bit dirty and some part broke. I'm planning to buy a Netbook. You know ... the small one. Netbook users what's your experiences? I'm interested about how's the "life" after switching to a netbook from a bigger device. Of course I'm planning to use the netbook as it's planned. Surfing the web, writing and carrying it everywhere. Oh and Mylotting :)

I am having a notebook and a PC. And this April I have purchased a HP Laptop. I felt I was never comfortable with the notebook. Except for being small I didn't like it for anything else.

There are other problems like carrying a separate optical drive like CD/DVD drive separately becomes a new headache. On times when we are going to travel for next few weeks, it is an extra luggage.

I think I could handle a smaller keyboard. But I can't carry my laptop (with it's damaged monitor what can't hold itself if I don't put something behind it) around a small bag or table.

I prepared for that too. I rarely use CDs. Everyone around have Pen drives. I have cd/dvd writer what I can plug in but I use it only at home sometimes when I help someone else to write CDs. And even If I bring that cd player I won't have bigger luggage than with a laptop and it's bigger bag.

SInce you said you rarely use CDs, it wount be any problem but there are 2 issues u may face... 1- A netbook has a small screen, it would feel like everything is cramped. 2- The netbook processor wouldn't be as great as your laptop's...so you may feel frustrated at times when programs take time to open etc

I used to have a netbook but I tend to download alot and it couldnt handle it so I have a pc and a laptop now, I am planning on getting an Ipad as I think that will be better suited to my needs. What you are planning on using it for it should be okay but just remember that the memory on them isnt great and sometimes you have to strain your eyes to see the screen and can cause long term damage.

I'm planning to use it to write articles and visit sites like Neobux, Zeek Rewards and Mylot. I play only very low system req. games and rarely. So actually I would use it for a few hours a day to do these. A netbook is mobile and can be used with Windows. That's good for me, I'm not planning to use the netbook for gaming what can really drain your eyes. After an article you can rest and think what you write about next. Thanks for warning.

LOL. An atom netbook is x2 faster than an Ipad, it costs 200$ less than an Ipad,and have 10x the space of an iPad (250/320gb hdd). Also, i think that the small screen is that one with a 1024x768 on a 9,7".

csabaholcz: Re. buying netbooks please see this link: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Laptop-Computers/Netbooks/pcmcat163300050051.c?id=pcmcat163300050051 The strain involved in reading small prints will be there. But for you it may not be issue now because you are young. Also you should not strain for longer hours. If you use it for for 3 or 4 hours a day and your concern is mobility then it is ok. The link I have given will give idea about netbooks available in the market and their price.

Yes, I am also planning to buy a new one. Till now have interested in Asus netbook, which comes in a range of almost $250. It is provided with Dual core atom processor. And it has in build windows 7 starter operating system. I think it may not have webcam.

Netbook is good to have when you want to surf as you said. Good thought. It is light and easy to carry anywhere you go. I would not prefer a smart phone for surfing because the screen is too small for surfing. Netbook is best. good day.

I don't have problems with the screen. Alright it's good to have a bigger one but I want a keyboard! Notbooks is actually a computer. Mouse, keyboard, Windows. Smart phone is PHONE. And my galaxy ace doesn't have flash anyway ;_;

When netbooks first came out, it was something that I would admit that I really wanted. However, my sister-in-law had one and she had a hard time with it because of the fact that it didn't have the same capability that a laptop does have. Besides that, there are many traditional laptops that are available these days that are very inexpensive, so you would not be spending that much more money to get a regular laptop than it would cost you to get a netbook.
