Why does the government through its officials in the Department of Energy ignore inventions by its citizens like the bio fuel using a petroleum plant endemic to the Philippines? Now it has attracted the attention of a US based bio-fuel corporation. What other inventions do you know of that since it was ignored in our country, it was taken abroad for patent. ???

The only valid reason I could think of is because our government is protecting the oil companies in our country (especially the Big Three) since get a lot of taxes from these companies and may some 'under the tables' too.
Also, foreign oil companies would stop investing in our country like the Ptt of Thailand which the government avoids cause it might make a bad reputation for us.
Our government seems to be favorable of renewable energy and bio fuels but the truth is they are not.

Then we should have self determination There is an environmentalist in our region, CAR, Michael Bengwayan who have explored in that field by using an endemic petroleum nut. See it in this link by copy-pasting it on your browser:

What Michael did is heroic: saving the environment at his own means and teaching others to do the same. However, it is only unfortunate that our government has not done anything to support his idea.
They (the government) are afraid of what the Big Three would do if they start to support bio fuels, I guess. And also, the government would have to render a lot of costs if we want bio fuels to sustain our energy consumption.
All the manufacturing companies in our country use oil for their machinery, if bio fuels are introduced, we have to think of a way in order to create that bio fuel in a larger scale (large enough to sustain these companies' manchinery). Perhaps the government is avoiding that hassle and the large amount of expenses it implies.

very sad because we Filipinos do not recognize the genius of our own kind. it is only when the foreigners recognize and praise and but the invention only we will recognize too and it is already too late to claim it as ours because foreign countries have already taken it. maybe bio fuel was not recognized because they have kickback with the commercial fuel. again it all boils down to corruption.

A few among them, there was a gas turbo gadget and another was an oil additive which has taken their inventors abroad in exchange for the patents because the authorities here ignored their importance. I have seen one brought back home by an OFW and I also used the additive before which I experienced was really excellent. At this time, however this additive is no longer effective as attested by some who earlier used it.

You said it! I've also wondered why our government would not sponsor our local inventors. Our inventors really have potential and I believe one may even put us on the map. I guess politicians don't see these inventions profitable until it's too late. They would rather focus more on projects that would cash in money quickly. Really sad!

I guess the government lacks support for our local inventors that is why they are forced to sell their inventions abroad in the hopes they would be compensated for the idea they created. Sadly that happens to many of our local inventors.
I know this biofuel has started a long time ago and I recall I wrote some post about this topic about this bio fuel plant.
There were several issues that were thrown at going into it. Like for example the things that happened in one Central American country that adapted and promoted planting bio fuels. It resulted to a shortage in food since many farmers rushed to planting this crops instead of the food crops. So the land used to produce foods were suddenly converted to produced the biofuel plant. It could happen to us as well when demand for this crop increases farmers might just shift to this since it is the crop in demand and maintenance is very minimal.

Hi,
One could not really blame the politicians, they are just there as fronts for the big businesses who ran the real deal. Most of them though are businessmen themselves with vested interests in the things we are shouting against time after time.
If you are a businessman, you would do anything to protect your interests, right? In not then, step out and go to the mountains to live like a hermit.
Now, nobody would like the idea, for the meantime, its a rat race open for all to join.
