Hello lotters,
So weird huh, i just kept seeing this in our local new channels when ever there is something reported or some one's being interviewed.
well, here's one of the big reasons: ONLINE GAMES! this is what I've discovered as one of the reasons why one has so many alternate accounts. you can't simply make that just to fool around victims and do cons for no reason.
unless these online games try to have one account one policy per games, the number of fake accounts in facebook will increase exponentially.

Yes this aright news.Facebook has so many fake accounts.It has so many reason because facebook games and victim other people.Many peoples makes the fake accounts because they fooled other people.

Rehanashraf, I don't get you quite clearly but you're correct about people being fooled. some are actually raped or killed for simply making friends online, even some celebrities weren't safe about them. some people are simply heartless and total untrust worthy. but maybe it has some thing to d with the upbringing.

Well it is pretty useful to have an alternate account. It can be used for trolling. :D

Hello Sodambored, thats why i never got interested in facebook before because of bullying and trolling. 
not to mention i don't find it funny either because a lot of people hide their true identity and using a fake one just to show their dark nature. besides, its becoming less quality social networking because of online games. have a nice day.

Well trolling is only fun when you do it to your friends because you get to see their reaction when they find out it is you. :D That is the best part their face when they finally know who has been trolling them. X'D

Hello Bhabycatch, I think there will come a time where facebook will have to let go some of those online games. not only it's not friendly but it's alarming people out there to check their accounts often. i think they will be frustrated or get into trouble one day because facebook might have them just deleted. LK, shocked to know that 83 million fake accounts are available in fb. I wonder why people are interested in creating fake accounts for playing games alone? may be they have some other motive. May be they are selling this fake account for some business persons and make money with it

Hello vidhya, who would have thought that it can reach that amount. I know thre are fake accounts out there but i didn't think it would reach this much, must be a lot of alts. if they removed those online games that has alt accounts, then their fake account problems would disappear immediately. unfortunately, this is a problem only they can solve. have a nice day.

This is true. A lot of people do create fake accounts just to get more money in their games. An example of this is the old facebook game called mafia wars. I know a lot of people who made extra facebook accounts just to get more money in that game. Happy mylotting.

Hello SavageCabbage, I remember when my brother used to play that game, it takes him hours until late in the morning until he is done with that game. but ever since he got disconnected, he started lessening the play until he stopped paying mafia wars. I think it's good play online game but getting addicted is different, it can really affect your social life. Have a nice day.

Yeah actually that is really hard to track since the only thing needed to open an account there is an email address which is easy to get from anywhere on the net. I think basing them from IP addresses is also equally difficult since many are on dynamic IP that have different IP when they connect to their internet access. So FB would have hard time cleaning up their ranks. They could not just easily remove them our of suspicion only or they might just accidentally remove a valid account in the process.

I watched about this too in local channel. May be 2 of the 83 million is me and my boyfriend 
I have 2 account in facebook. I made my 1st account 3 years ago and forgot my password so I created new one which I use till now. I tried to delete my old account but I forgot my security question too 
still trying till now. Anyone can give me clue how to delete my account without security question? Hm and my boyfriend has his fake account in facebook, someone created it and we don't know who.

I also read this news in newspaper. Facebook has categorized the fake accounts into three: duplicate accounts, misclassified accounts and undesirable accounts. It is now in the hands of facebook to take necessary steps to reduce the amount of fake accounts and prevent the creation of new fake accounts.

Hello Ajinleo, I don't think it can be prevented since more and more people create fake accounts every day. i bet they were just makng assumption when the truth is that there is more there. Actually i have seen from my friends on how the site takes measure in determining the fake from the real ones. they often complain when their alts are deactivated. but it was their fault when they shouldn't be making alts at all. have a nice day.

I to know many of my friends who have created multiple accounts to play game.
I once asked one of my friend why he created so many accounts and when does he get time to check each, for which he replied that he has one original account and all others are used by him to help him in playing games. He logs in into the account and sends some gifts to his original account to help himself play the games. :)

I heard that 83million also includes accounts for people's pets!
