After the Rh Bill issue, the proponents were silenced by the emergence of the floods. Amidst the disaster, people from all walks of life joined hands to extend aid in their own capacity to the flood victims. The government agencies, media, religious and civic groups, business establishments, movie personalities and even flood victims themselves were on TV as evidence of their sympathy to the victims. The CBCP on the other hand were nowhere to be seen. how intriguing.

I do think that CBCP is the organization in the Catholic Hierarchy responsible in airing their concerns about issues that may affect the spirituality of the whole Catholic community. That is their own mission I guess.
But I think at this time of need it is not CBCP who is responsible to mobilize relief efforts but the respective areas of concern. They may not be as televised as many we see on TV but I think the Church is doing its best to serve their respective communities.

for your information, the CBCP is a group of bishops in the philippines. the group is not the Catholic church, but it can speak on behalf of the Catholic flock. the Church is involved in the relief operations. Even at the height of operations, many churches have become evacuation centers and provided shelter and food to those who took refuge to their churches. unlike those whom you saw on TV, the Church does not need to spread its work of this kind because it is part of its job and mission here on earth.

Heroes really emerged from that sad day when monsoon rains devastated NCR and a lot of provinces in Luzon. Filipinos are really a race of people who, despite differences, are still there to give a helping hand. Different groups helped in their own way. I guess the CBCP were also out there helping other people in their own way.

It is not the habit of the Catholic Church to televise the way they help people... they do it without the cameras... here in my area... the Parish Pastoral Council has been asking for donations in any kind which they will distribute to the victims of this recent disaster...
When Politicians and Movie Personalities are shown on TV helping people... that is a kind of exposure for them... they need that... but the Church doesn't...

And a lot of those Catholics who participated in the outreach are against the RH Bill... I believe the bishops who are part of the CBCP are in their respective communities organizing the people to help those who are affected by the disaster... and again... i don't think that sort of action needs to be televised...

I think the rh bills issue was overwhelmed by the recent calamity that struct our country last week. For this, the CJ short list was also postponed claiming that they need additional time for the release. The RH bill would have been a very big issue to us Filipinos since more at least 10 years now. Its been pending on the Congress for this long that people who understand it are waiting if it would be decided now or not. Personally, I really don't understand it since I no one in the government really explained what was it all about. We only heard about responsible family planning, but really don't know what it is all about. So thus the releasing of the short list of CJ candidates.
