Mexico upset the applecart and beat Brazil 2-1 to win the Gold Medal at the Olympics. Peralta scored the two most important goals of his career to take Mexico to an unlikely gold medal. The Brazilian defense was really lackluster and there were gaping holes in the Brazilian defense which was exposed by Peralta. Hulk scored the consolation goal late in the game, but that was too little too late for Brazil who for the third time in Olympics end up with a silver. Cheers! Ram

For a brief period at the end of first half and the start of the second half, Brazil played well as a team. During this period Neymar and Hulk seemed to be all over the Mexicans, but apart from that they were really lackluster. Mexico deserved to win this match. Cheers! Ram

Up until the final it was Neymar. But today he was more or less missing except for the brief period. Cheers! Ram

This is a real bad dream for the third time Brazil because they get into the finals but they only take silver. This is a profound disappointment for Brazil are the favorites. I think the Brazil defender too mengggangap tidaka trivial and the concentration at the beginning of the game that resulted in broken 2 times their goal. It's ironic to brazil

Actually in the end, I think they were literally playing without a defense at all. It was really bad. Cheers! Ram

Exactly, it was really a golden chance for Gold. And they let it slip through their fingers. Cheers! Ram

And so, the Olympics gold medal continue to elude the Brazilian. As I have previously stated, thou Brazil is the overwhelming favourite, stranger things has happened before. Within seconds of the start, the strange thing happened and Brazil could not recover from it. So now, they will have to wait another four years. But first, the World Cup in 2014 which is to be held at their homeland.

I think this was really a golden chance for Brazil to lay their ghosts to rest. Unfortunately, they failed. Now they would be hoping to salvage the pride at Brazil 2014. Cheers! Ram

That game was pathetic! If it's something good can come from this result is that maybe now Mano Menezes finally is fired from Brazil's team. The president of the CBF already don't like him, let's hope he changes the coach to maybe we have a chance to win the World Cup at home. Of course he is not the only guilty for the silver medal, but first he is not even supposed to be the coach for this olympics, it should be Ney Franco. The selection of defense players was bad, ok Rafael had to be cut of the olympics, but have as goalkeeper reserve as Neto or Gabriel is the same thing as asking to lose. David Luiz should be one of the 3 players over 23 years. Either way, Neymar should show more (I'm not one of those fanatics that are blaming Neymar for this, he can't do everything alone..), Rafael should be out of the Brazil's team forever and I really hope this happens (he made two mistakes and then goes fight with Juan, we definitely don't need another stupid player as Felipe Melo), Sandro is the same thing but maybe he deserves another chance.. If Mano Menezes is not out of the Brazil's team..I see a bad future for Brazil in the World Cup!

Yes, I agree the match was really not up to the top standard. I also think that Mano Menezes would be fired as there was already a discussion before the tournament that if Brazil does not win the gold, he will lose his job. Cheers! Ram

Still nothing about the possible dismissal of Mano Menezes..probably because they have a friendly match this wednesday, if they lose again, I don't think he survive until the end of the week.

Once again Brazil fails to shine when most needed. Don't know what's with Brazilian football, they seem to win nothing these days.

I think for one their defense is really woeful. For another it is just something in their heads. Cheers! Ram

I don't think the problem is with their heads, they didn't forgot how to win, but we just need to face that we don't have best players in the world anymore.. In this olympics, the defense was bad since the first game and that was my fear in the final. The goalkeeper was probably the worst that ever represented Brazil's team and I really don't know what Mano could see in Sandro or Rafael..seriously, they are awful and they always will be! The only ones that can be on the world cup team is Thiago Silva and maybe Marcelo and Juan as reserves, the rest should go home and never more come back!

But this will generally be true for any Olympic team as only 3 players above 23 are allowed for the games. But I do agree the goalkeeper was awful as also the defense. Marcelo actually had a real bad game in the final. Cheers! Ram

Yeah, it's a little bit surprising, since everyone take on Brazil, I think. But I like this, since I don't cheer for Brazil Well anyway, the Brazillian is still a good team, since they can reach into the final, somehow.

Yes, no doubt they are good team. But their dodgy defense gives all other teams a great chance to win against them. Cheers! Ram

Mexico beats Brazil 2-1 to win the Olympic footbal - Mexico beats Brazil 2-1 to win the Olympic football gold medal
"Something are just not meant to be" This is the headline in our Malaysian newspaper when Lee Chong Wei, our badminton men's gold medal hope, lost again to Lin Dan of China for the second time in back-to-back Olympic finals, even though Lee Chong Wei had prepared well and was in fact needing only 2 more points to win the match. Mexico 2 Brazil 1 - What a result for Mexico! I hope those young footballers will go on playing for their senior team and be a force in the World Cup in 2 years' time in where else but Brazil! The samba boys will fight on in the next Olympic in their own home soil for the elusive gold medal.

Of course, at the senior level it is a completely different ball game. But even then it is a great achievement for Mexico and will spur them up for the next world cup. Cheers! Ram
