I started a discussion on ‘Captain’ Lakshmi Sehgal, who headed the women’s regimen of Netaji’s Indian National Army (INA) and later successfully fought the 2002 presidential election, on 07.08.12 in the category of ‘India’ a few days after death at Kanpur and expected a good number of responses. The underlying reason behind such expectation was that Sehgal was a close associate of Netaji and fought a glorious battle against the British for the independence of India. Each and everyone in India is familiar with the name of Netaji and is well aware of his contribution and sacrifice for the sake of independence of his country. Being a part of that glorious team of Netaji and playing a pivot role in it, I had a firm belief in me that many would come forward and accompany with me in paying tribute to this legendary woman who remained a fighter throughout her life for the sake of her country and in this way would once again remember the great sacrifice of that great son of India. But I am very sorry to say that nobody cared to give any response to it. It seems that this great son of India and with him those great freedom fighters who fought for the battle for our independence is now really a forgotten hero. We owe a lot to these great freedom fighters for being born in independent India. So they rightly deserve at least the minimum courtesy of getting some respect after death, if not during their life time. Isn’t it? But in reality, what I see? It seems that the citizens of free India have not heard her name and her contribution and sacrifice throughout her life for the country.

Hello I am agree with you and I am also sorry to not response on your topic of national interest. Indeed I didn't got your this topic. No doubt Laxmi Sehgal was a great lady. She was a doctor and after independence she gave free medical adds to people of Kanpur. She have strong believe in untouchabilty.

Well I am very sorry about that no one responded to your discussion on the topic of freedom fighters. I am sorry to say that I have no idea who these people were but I know they have done good to this country. I am from Fiji Islands and since last 2 years I am here in Goa. I got legally married to a Goan. So sorry once again that had no idea about these people. good day.

You are a foreigner living at present in India. So you are not expected to know the history of our freedom fighters. But those who are born and brought up in India must know it. It would help them to be good citizens for the development and prosperity of the country. Unless you know the history of your country, you cannot be a good citizen and cannot play the desired role the country expects from you.
