or a
cheesedog rather.
because am going to cook rice this afternoon and i might use the small steamer to cook some stuff and heat some fish. but I like this if it's possible to steamed it only because I want to avoid using the gas stove as i sense that our LPG is running out of GAS inside.
if it works though then i would just use the steamer instead of pan and fire
.
Of course, this isn't like doing it in the BBQ stand, it's raining here i can't cooked like that inside.

Hello raine,
waaaaah
i would probably just put some aluminum wrap around each one so that the cheezedog. wow, i was worried about its flavor changing, so it means that if i steam it the flavor won't change. but if it's hotdog hat i steam, then the color would disappear.thanks for telling me this experience, have a nice day.

Hello mimiang
, you are so right about that it is the healthier way of cooking them. using oil would add more cholesterol and that is troublesome for our health. but i didn't steamed it though i fried it because it needed more time to steamed it longer than the way it was cooked rice. Have a nice day and thanks

I have observed, mimiang always present in cooking or food topics in here... i guess you are a good cook.
Knight, i just remembered one thing. we have this teflon looking grill which doesn't neeoil comes out of it. d to use oil or water in it, just heat it up in stove and put the hotdogs or eggs or any meat and it will cook on it's own.

I like those kinds of cooking tools cause you can save money avoiding oil and save money as well.
I even watched hsn which promotes a pan which cooks just like that. avoiding oils, much healthier cause the oil comes from the meat itself...just have no budget for it though. but if i would have money for that, i would certainly order.
Oh my, i have no idea if shipping products from hsn to our place is safe.do you have ideas on this?

We steam cook hot dogs all the time. Since the hot dog is already cooked I just put it on top of the rice in the rice cooker and leave the top on. About 10 mins. later the hot dog is hot.

Hello
Savypat, wow 10 minutes so it is longer than how the rice is cooked, now i think am motivated to do this because i think it might. am thinking of what i should buy today and if it's hotdogs again.let me see if this works because am going to cook rice this afternoon and give this a try myself. thanks for the suggestion and have a nice day to you.

Hello my friend LetranKnight25 Ji,
Well, I think once anything is steam-cooked, it can be garnished as per choice by adding salt and other condiments and it may sound more healthier than fried one, may be lacking in taste.
May God bless You and have a great time

You should be able to steam it because you don't really need to cook it, but merely warm it. You may want to cut it though, or at least put a long slit in it so it heats evenly.

didn't know you can actually add some dairy cream into it because i would only have ketchup as it's good add to the food. well, our rice is still full in here. i wonder which dairy cream would you like to recommend my friend? surely there's a lot in here. Have a nice day/.

wow, jaiho sounds like you are baking something..because most of the time, dairy cream or margarines are used for baking or breads itself... sounds interesting.might try that someday.
I've tried using buttercup much cheaper than bakers best but then, lesser taste.
just right for thrifty people.

steaming can be healthy and much more convenient way to cook food. that's what they say. it also keeps the food healthy to eat.
I just had steamed fish this lunch, and it was really good. we always use rice cooker for steaming fish. but if the fish is bigger, a turbo one can do.
have you tried that, knight?

Hotdogs are already cooked, all you are ever really doing is heating them up. So I am sure you can use a steamer to "steam" the hotdogs and they may taste very good that way, I am not sure. You could even use a microwave if you so wish, though of course cooking anything in the microwave is not healthy.

Hello Somecowgirl,
I wonder why it was not healthy because we tried to heat it in the microwave. it was good taste but it didn't look to good compare to how i cooked it before. well, it's still not healthy to me when ti comes to cooking the food with too much oil just like any other burger stand does. anyway thanks for the heads up, have a nice day.

i think we already did that. one time we run out of lpg and what we have left is rice cooker. so my wife put the hotdog when the rice is already cooked and the rice cooker is already in the warm stage. but you know, hotdog is tastier when it is steamed before you will fry it? the juice in the hotdog comes out when steamed and it brings out its true taste.

Hello neildc, oh i see thank you for telling me this. unfortunately i was desperatly hungry that i ended up frying it instead. oh yeah i forgot, i should bought a reynolds wrap to keep the taste from getting out at least. nope, i wanted to steamed it until it cooked but i will do it next time. not right now, have anice day

i believe you can Letran as my husband says that hotdogs are already cooked - or half cooked that is, i usually boil hotdogs to remove its color..as its bad for the kids.. so yes you can steam it, make it a bit longer to really cook it quite well..but be careful as it might drip in the rice and will make your rice red.

I didn't realize that having a colored hotdogs can also be bad for the children? can you explain to me this because my nephews and niece were forbidden to eat hotdogs before and i didn't know why.yeah i will buy some reynolds wrap and have put it first before the hotdogs so that it won't be much of a trouble. thank you and have a nice day.

I prefer to steam a hotdog rather than fry or cooking method. So, I can say its healthier to steam than to use any cooking oil to fry.If you are going to cook the rice into a rice cooker then most rice cooker has its steamer so there not much work to do just steam the hotdog while cooking the rice then its done.
You save time and energy too. Happy mylotting.

Hello cloud31,
I want to save energy and prevent too much use of the gas stove. i will do that in time, unfortunately when i made this discussion, i chose to fry it instead and that's why i wasn't able to experiment on that. i try it with okra though but it wasn't cooking fast as being done in boiling. Have anice day.

make a cheesedog out of it?
then, you'll be needing cheese... i wonder what it taste like?
i guess margarine don't match with mayonnaise and ketchup. have you tried it?
by doing such, you'll need a bread not a rice to eat it with...
by the sound of it makes me hungry.

I believe you can do that. Well some are actually boiling hotdogs only because they avoid using oils too... Boiling a hotdog I guess is just the same as steaming it the only difference is that, you are not sinking it in a water. =)
If you feel it's still uncooked then steam it again =)

You said it's a cheesedog? I wonder what will happen to the cheese if you put it in the steamer? I don't like cheesedogs so I never cook them. I do steam hot dogs and they are very good that way. But I'm just wondering if the cheese will ooze out and melt all over the steamer.

Yes you can do that, although you won't get that good "char" that you get with BBQ lol. You have to remember that hot dogs are already "cooked" when they get to you, they are just kept cold to keep them fresh. All they truly need is a bit of heat so steaming them along with your rice until they are hot won't hurt a bit.

eagletrek2, grilling them would be a great idea if it's not raining though. the steaming time i think it's a lot more than just cooking it which is less than five minutes. but it does save energy and use of gas and oil since i would use electricity if i steamed it with rice. have a nice day and thanks.

Hmm, I've never tried steaming hot dogs. I've always boiled them instead. They end up crunchy when they come out of the pot and into a bun. Seeing that steam is essentially hot, evaporating water, I hypothesize that your hot dogs will end up good.

Hello
Bhebelen, That reminds me, the reason that i cooked hotdog was because i only needed a taste appetizer for my okra, since okra doesn't have that much of a taste when it's boiled. i tried to steamed okra but it didn't went soft as planned. so i boiled it, vegetables are my priority meal but if there's no veggies i just stick to okra. thanks and have a nice day.
