I usually buy like a 16 or 20oz jar of peanut butter.
My son likes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
My husband will go and get a huge spoonful and just eat it.
So I went to our military store called a commissary and they had a 4lb can of peanut butter. I thought I would be smart and it would last awhile.
So Saturday I went to make peanut butter cookies, and would you believe that if I had wanted to make a full batch, I would not have had enough peanut butter?
fortunately I had enough to make half a batch which made 3 dozen.
But I told my husband he should not be eating that much. he is diabetic and a food addict drives me crazy.
His response to my can of peanut butter was well its been up there for 4 weeks!
Guess I will have to start hiding things and leave him a jar of his own. The 4lb can sure did not work out well!!!
But my peanut butter cookies were delicious.

I eat it out of the jar with a spoon also. I go through phases where I am addicted to certain foods. Right now it's peanut butter. 4 lbs. should have lasted a long time, but sometimes the more that's there the more you eat. I try not to have to much of it at a time, because of the high fat content, even in some of the "low fat", but it doesn't always work. I try to control my portions, by just taking out a certain amount but the peanut butter is just in the jar and I just keep going sometimes.

I go through food phases, too, and peanut butter is a source of protein and fibre, so don't feel too guilty about the fat content, which isn't trans fat, anyway.

LOL Jazel he eats that too. I go through 2 to 3 lbs of lunch meat and cheese a week and now this peanut butter. Its all to much for my head to comprehend!
I barely eat.
I buy grapefruit and have that 3 times a week for breakfast. Other days I eat oatmeal.
Last Saturday I actually made homemade waffles.
I could not begin to eat the amount of food he eats. He has finally admitted to being a food addict which is really bad cause of his diabetes.

I haven't seen peanut butter in any larger quantities than 1 kg lately (about 2 lbs) and in plastic jars, but in the '60s & '70s we used to get it in maybe 5 lb glass jars, which I kept to use as storage for bulk dry foods like pasta and dried beans. (My, what a long sentence!)
I sometimes will eat it by the spoonful, too.

hi marie I make peanut butter ritz sandwiches for my diabetic late snack as we have dinner so early here just 4 pm but I do not eat cookies as they shove up my b.glucose to 200 which is not good for any diabetic. a little peanut butter will not hurt us diabetics but huge gobs will lol lol.my doctor says the key word for us is moderation in all things4 pounds of peanut butter for a diabetic
wow is all I can say., I never use more than a tablespoonful for my snacks all of them., moderation is the key.

Maria!
Can you give me a piece of you hand made delicious peanut butter cookies? I love it to the core! Unfortunately, my mom don't cook it at home and I never asked for it as well! But I use to have it at Spencer when I go for shopping!
Can you please share tip on cooking peanut butter cookies? So that, I can start my own cooking and present to my mom. After eating those delicious cookies she will try to prepare the same and give me whenever she can! I think my sister also enjoys peanut butter cookies at her college canteen! She had bought it once but I don't whether it is from a bakery or college canteen!
Hope I will get peanut butter cookies now and then here from friend (chef) like you! lol!
