My granddaughter is practicing driving before she gets her license. I had to laugh at her the other day. We were going to a friends house and she was driving. We came to the corner where we had to turn across traffic. She stops to let a car go by and there was plenty of time for her to turn several time. Then another car was coming and it was much closer but still safe to turn in front of it. Her mother does the same thing as does her sister. Do any of your family drive like that?

I don't drive but I think I would do the same thing, my friends always turn right in front of car saying " There was plenty of time" but to me it was not.. May be that's why I don't drive...I be sitting there waiting for a long time and people behind me would get mad

Hello missy. I always tell the kids that they have to be comfortable with their turns like that. She had more than enough time to turn there 2 or 3 times. But the next car was closer but it was not so close as to be in danger of our being hit by it.

I'm also a new driver, and that's also my fear, intersections and turning corners. Sometimes if I'm unlucky, my engine will stall.

I have had that happen too.

Oh, I got angry with a driver who did that today! It was a very busy intersection, but finally there was a clear as day opening for the driver to pull out. But they waited and waited and waited...I chalked it up to someone being a new driver, someone who just had an accident and was wary, or someone who is elderly and trying to be overly careful.

Well Ambie it is better for them to be over cautious than to get over confident and have or cause an accident. Some times those cars seem to be moving faster than they really are.

Just the new drivers...I know it must be scary for her right now until she gets a bit used to it. When my granddaughter was learning her mom, myself and her took a little trip. She would only drive on the interstate...she was terrified of driving on a two lane for fear she would get to close to the car coming in the opposite direction!

That's funny. I had been driving for years but when it came to the interstate in town I found it very scary. Of course I was used to the two lane highways before I even thought about the interstates. I have another granddaughter that found the interstate scary at first.
