Violators beware!!

For those of you who seem to care WAY TOO MUCH about the various people who violate ToS and enjoy teasing, harrassing, pointing out, etc - what drives you to do that? See, I am on the other side. You know how the government puts all these laws in place to 'protect stupid folks from themselves'? Well I believe it's high time those get removed and also that 'nice kind longtime users' here stop trying to be so helpful. If someone is going to be stupid, let them hang themselves. WHY? Ok, here's why. If you have shown up here at mylot, obviously you can read. If you've posted a discussion or two, obviously you can type, come up with a topic, create a discussion, and you're all primed and ready to meet/make some new friends and interact with people here. This also means you have had ample opportunity to probably read the FAQ (frequently asked questions) and the ToS (terms of service). If you don't, it's not my fault. It's not other users fault. It's not mylot's fault. Be responsible. That's all I'm saying. If you violate something or fail, it's on YOU, not on ME, not on another user, and not on mylot.

Honestly I don't try to help anyone anymore. I just don't. I am here on this site for the friendships, for the advice, for the entertainment, but I am also on here for the money. I feel like let the others deal with the newcomers. I do think that it's great some do help others, it helps keep the community just that little more cleaner. It's like the newcomers who don't read are litter and the mylotters who help them remove the litter so to speak. We are even asked in the guidelines to help, though not all of us do. Like I said, I don't, I don't want to bother with it. I also think, however, that those who do help are doing good.

I only try to help if I am ASKED and asked SPECIFICALLY. The problem I have here are some old users who seem to believe they are admins and they not only trash newbies, they discuss them other places and make fun of them. I don't understand that mentality, it's almost like police brutality. I'm sure the people DOING it feel justified but I don't think it's even justifiable. Besides, I don't see the point, what good does it do to make a newbie suffer? Even if they are mildly annoying or not following the rules you do? Is it really that hard to ignore them? I don't think so. I ignore a LOT of things that just don't interest me. After all, I could be a jerk and go post in those discussions that I don't like the topic and I don't know why they are here - but that is WAY too much effort for me lol. Help - in my opinion - is offering ASKED for advice, NOT unasked for advice. It's like being criticized by a stranger - nobody ASKS for that and nobody WANTS that, and the stranger for all intents and purposes can think whatever they want to but should keep their frigging MOUTH SHUT. If you've ever had some jerk make a comment about how you're dressed or complain about how you discipline or dress your children, then you know exactly what I'm talking about and trust me, they deserve to get conked in the head lol.

I agree with you 100%. It appears some folk seem to get a kick out of it. A lot of mylotters offer some great advice to help newbees on their way but others seem to spend their day looking for just that kind of discussion. I agree with you, it's up to the newbee to learn the ropes and if they ask for help then thats different but each of us will have our own take on this and in the end it's up to the individual to decide on their response.

Thank you! I think so far you are the first one to actually totally 'get it'. You deserve a BR! You've seen exactly what I'm talking about - this is meant towards the ones who browse purposely for discussions in which to batter and harass people. Another example of this behavior is when I go to youtube and people troll around, specifically going to artists and videos they HATE simply so they can write nasty comments. Yep... just like that. Really lame.

I agree that when we join myLot it is up to each and everyone of us to read and understand what we are supposed to do and not do here but sadly there are many who don't bother reading at all. Then they end up starting topics which will be removed - and other users, who probably haven't read them either, participate on them and end up wasting their time too. MyLot is teamwork. It is a community and we could all make much more out of the time that we spend here if we all work together, instead of against each other. It is not a competition here. There is no-one better than others but there are some time-wasters who not only get nothing for themsleves, they also stop others from getting as much as they could too. Admin has already said that he is thankful to those who help answer queries and point out violations, helping users to learn the ropes. He didn't say that everyone has to do it and while we still have a choice, I shall continue as I have done up to now, helping out when I can (and losing earnings too but that is my choice as I know how to make up for that quickly the next day )

hi diana I agree we all have responsibilities to learn about mylot and help keep it looking good and working smoothly. I will be damned if I am tarred and feathered for helping people answering questions 'and making suggestions. why must we always have to point fingers at people and say they should not do this or that? I do not feel 'I have done one damned thing wrong here in just helping people when they ask questions and I write a response. I am not apologizing for loving m ylot and wanting to help.whats wrong with caring about this site?

Hatley, you are a revelation on mylot. i hope you do not think some of the responses are aimed at you. i think the discussionist is delving deeper than mylotters like yourself and mysd. I have read many responses from both off you where you have went out of your way to be friendly and helpful. hats of to both of you.

Yes, that is true. If you sign in to a website or community you must read their guidelines and FAQ to know how it works and of course the rules. I can see most new comers now rely on discussions but I believe they will learn it too in time. I am a new comer too once upon a time and I must admit I failed to read the guidelines too until several discussions of mine are deleted. But that's part of life, what is important is that I learn my lesson and hope everyone does. We are all here to help each other, give our thoughts and advice and earn. Just enjoy and happy mylotting.

Do you prefer to have people rant and rave at you or would you rather just read the ToS yourself (your choice) or learn from your mistakes? I think I'd rather just read the ToS myself and then learn from my mistakes, maybe by having something deleted rather than have people I don't even know start ranting at me lol.

I actually prefer to read the guidelines than to make a discussion that will surely be deleted. I will admit that even though I read about the guidelines, I commit mistakes of commenting on a discussion that will be deleted. Anyway, what is important is that I am learning from it.

I don't think helping the newbies is wrong. I mostly help the ones that ask for help. I want them to get the most out of being here and enjoy MyLot. If they keep getting their discussions deleted then it is not much fun being here. I want everyone to love being here like I do! =) I do wish they would read the things they need to in order to get the most of the site. But I cannot make them do it either.

I don't think it's wrong if people ask, but I think it's wrong if someone doesn't want to be helped and long time members are continually harrassing them in discussions. If they don't read the ToS or don't heed KIND and FRIENDLY suggestions, then people should lay off. I see far too many comments where long time members actually argue with people or threaten them and say 'if you don't stop, your discussion will be deleted' and the user says 'I don't care' and the argument continues. If they don't care, then stop saying anything, let it get deleted lol. We are each only responsible for our own behavior here, nobody elses. I've also seen threats happen where nothing gets deleted, which is I why I think some people just get on a high horse and somehow believe they are knowledgeable about something when they actually have no clue.

Yeah I know what you mean. I don't really respond to those discussions anymore either. I don't have time to waste repeating over and over to go read the terms or the FAQ's only to have that discussion deleted anyway. I concentrate on other more interesting discussions now. Sounds mean in one way but like you said, if they can read and type then they can take the time to read the terms and things. If they don't they will just be banned eventually

Now I wish I could give TWO best responses because I like yours too. I am grateful to have found at least TWO people here in mylot who totally understand how pointless it is to keep repeating yourself to newbies who aren't here to listen to old timers, they are here because they are trying to make money by doing all the wrong things lol. When I joined here on a tip from a friend I met somewhere else, I figured the money would be a perk if I actually created and/or responded to quality stuff. There were a few months I made quite a LOT, and that's why. It had nothing to do with quantity really either, meaning I didn't start 50 discussions a day about nothing. I might have started 6 or 7 but most of my earning comes from responding. I also see LOTS of people join this site but most of them are not active or don't remain so. Some of the people I know here that I now keep in touch with in other ways besides here don't even come here any more. While I do miss their input (some of them were hilarious), this can turn into a huge timesink if you're not careful.

Haha thanks but that's OK, it's nice to get best response but I don't think it really does too much in the way or earnings or anything. Yeah I don't start discussions unless I have a question I find people who just spam with different discussions they don't really want an answer to pointless as well. Although we are the ones that earn from it and not them but some people just keep starting up discussions and then not responding to those who answered Yeah that happens as well. I have slowed down but still come on here everyday to see what's happening. I'm now behind on responses and things as well and trying to play catch up!

opujch mommyboo are you digging at any one person or all of us. do you realize maybe we are appreciated when we help newcomers here and are not doing it to be mean or spiteful. I feel like I have been hit by someone I thought was a friend. I see the truth in what you say but I do mot tease, harrass anyone nor do I enjoy hurting anyone. If anyone does insult me in a post now I just report them.Caring about mylot and keeping it going smoothly to me is not a crime but sayiny we love tp pick on people is goiing way too far mommygoo. but thats just me. I dont know if I am singled ou t as I do not pick on people.

Dear Hatley Why do you assume this was directed against you? There are over 200 000 users on mylot. I think it is a general observation and a point well taken.

Oh.. I am definitely not picking on you, Hatley! I can think of one or two people I actually directed this toward and I am curious as to WHY they like to constantly bring up 'violations' or ToS in their postings. I only put that out there hopefully to entice them to come out and own up to doing it and explain WHY they seem to get such a kick out of it. You are a very kind and considerate poster - I'm sorry you felt it was directed at you

I try to avoid those discussion that have been started by users who violate the TOS, because I don't see the point. I don't even try to help any more and you are right they should read the FAQ's and the ToS so they do know what is allowed and not allowed here.
