The frustration sometimes. I'd like to play kick the can with this computer.

But I can't do it, it's my husband's. The power outages, the cable problems, the provider problems. It seems like every other day there is a problem. I made a discussion and couldn't get back to it because we had one problem after another. Lightening storms, power outages. Then the cable company and then my provider. Geesh! Are you finding it hard sometimes? Have you ever gone through a computer problem period of time?

It's so frustrating when this happens. We ended up having to get a new computer because it turned out to be problems with the motherboard. Fortunately we rarely have problems with our internet provider.

That is great that you don't have problems with your provider. We didn't until the lightening strikes and even then we were getting back on line relatively quickly, but not this last time, two days.

hi writers Internet connectivity is the worst at my place (or should I say with me and my pc). Most of the day they are down citing voltage fluctuations, or even rains or hot summers. We have only two big companies which are the providers here - the governmental landline - it is the land phone lines and are the worst - the last place where I stayed, they went off and did not return for 25 days. That was insane and as I had some assignments over the Internet I had no choice but to migrate to the private other. And when I shifted to this new place (been here for over a year now), the problems started from April this year. Almost daily I call their support and it seems I am paying out about double the price - the 700 INR to the service provider and another about 600 INR to the phone provider for calling their support almost every day thrice or even more. I have lost two clients last month owing to this. When I complain to their support and make a mention of this, they tell me to upgrade to a much higher business plan (which would cost me about 5000 INR per month). I am to relocate to another city soon and there too these are the only two providers... with even poorer services as the city I stay right now is the capital of the state.

You're making me feel way better. 48 hours is the worst it has been here. Sometimes I can drive to a library and sometimes they have a slot open for me where the internet works, but not always. Seems like more people have trouble than I thought.

I hope that things get better for you in your country. It has to be difficult to conduct business when you don't know what the internet/your connection is going to do.

Ah, good that it worked positive for someone...otherwise, to me, it is always quite a dreadful thought each time I discuss business on the Internet. I have given up searching new clients as I know they might not co-operate - who will when most of the time you have Internet Problems. In US and UK, Internet is more like a necessity and just like telephones in India, people in these places feel lost in case there are any fluctuations. We all have some or other problems - sometimes it helps to know about the problems of others - I would definitely have felt the same like you if I found someone in more complex situations due to Internet connectivity - I know it is impolite to say this so bluntly, but then I would have thought, oh, so I am a little better off - this acts as a booster many times and peps you when you see some people with more sufferings than yours.

You really want to know??? Let's see, my laptop has quite a lot of space, but is slower than dial-up, I ONLY use it if necessary, because I can only do one thing at a time. My desktop on the other hand, is faster, so I can have many tabs open and do various things, except my hard drive is small, and I am told my computer is too old to install a bigger drive, so I can't download, let alone update my programs. On top of that, I find out that our "braodband" we have is not the top speed I thought it was. So, now any videos I watch, from youtube to even realplayer, I must start it, then pause it to let it load before watching.. I even found out a couple sites like pandora, the music skips and doesn't play right and you know how I love music, this is a problem for me...:(

Now I need a computer story worse than mine to make me feel better, other than having "no computer"

Read the Sids and some others. Trust me, you'll feel better. Nice talking to you by phone the other day. The incoming call wasn't an emergency, but could have been, so I had to get off.

It can be very hard sometimes when we realise just how much we rely on technology to get us through our every day lives. It can be very frustrating when the things that we need just won't work. I remember when my laptop broke and they wanted to send it off they said it would take over a week to get back to me, and this made me realise that there was no way that I could cope without a laptop for that amount of time. So I realised then that I would have to find another way to be able to work for that week, and now I make sure that there are ways that I can earn money which don't always have to involve technology and the internet.

I feel your pain. It has been raining here so much that it has been causing power outages. No power means no wireless internet. A few days ago it stay out for three hours.

Yes I have an old computer that I use that hangs all the time and it is connected to an old ups system that shut it every time there is a spike in the electricity which is like four or five times on a bad day. Every time it goes off, I give myself a break and make some tea or go do a small task that I have been waiting to do and then settle down and my eyes are rested. Look at it with different eyes and just imagine that the universe is telling you to take a break.

You're from Kenya, long tims since I've spoken/written to/had contact with anyone from Kenya. I guess I could consider it taking a break better if it wasn't for a day or two at a time.

Yes, the location of our house isn't good. We had our own internet connection in just three months. The provider said there are many trees in our location so we can't get good signal. How frustrating. Our neighbor's connection is just fine so they offered us to pay half and we shared internet connection. However, they only use internet around 9am and turn it off around 10 to 11pm. I want to use it before 7am. We have to wait for 9am before we can access our internet. I guess it's unfair to pay if we can't use it for 24 hours. Happy myLotting everyone.

That does sound frustrating. If you're paying half, seems like they could help you by turning it on a little earlier.

Not once ,but many a times since everything is susceptible to failure and i had it for long time ,but i never kicked it instead it repaired it,all it takes is patience and finding a solution for power backup

Power back up isn't the only problem. When our power comes back on, sometimes our supplier for the computer isn't back up yet. I can't do anything but wait.

Lightning storms destroys my computer , making a sudden power off and my computer fuse gets burned. It costs about 50$ to fix that. I can say our internet provider and infrastructure is good and after many problems , I have a good signal and high speed. even during the winter. I can understand how frustrating it when I can't be active in mylot when I want it the most. Sometimes , there is a problem with the internet connectivity (rarely happens now) and I want to respond.

I'm glad things are going better for you now. Winter is coming so the lightening storms will cease and I should be able to be on come consistantly, I hope. Thanks and take care.
