It saddens me to see on TV the floods in La Union. I lived in Quezon Avenue, San Fernando La Union for 8 years and never have I ever experienced a flood even during the rainy season. Even with a signal no 3 typhoon never have I encountered flooded streets especially in the center of town. San Fernando was not yet a city then but I have spent some of the best moments of my life in the place. There were unlimited swimming opportunities in Bauang and we used to visit Agoo during fiestas and the Holy Week break. Never have these towns suffered from floods as far as I can remember.

i see, the whole San Fernando city were flooded during that typhoon. some of my fb friends shared photos of Lorma college and hospital flooded, the old and new market also were flooded. i cant believe what i saw on the photos. i thin kone of the reason why a lot of places here in the Philippines are being flooded because of unplanned housing area. because of these a lot area were occupied by settlers which in turn block the water ways.

Yeah seems like this province was badly hit by the typhoon despite PAG ASA did not include them to be directly hit by the typhoon. I also have a co-worker that went there in Bauang where they are supposed to shoot some docu film but they were not able to do it because everything were flooded when they were about to shoot there. They returned back here in Manila and reported their experience there.
I also noticed there was less news reports of the flooding there and was just reported yesterday Friday only where the news started to come in. I think no one was expecting this worst only after Friday when things were already going back to normal.

Hi,
Good thing your place is not flooded. The way I see it, is is only the low-lying areas that got hit by floods like the waterfronts and riversides in most of North Luzon and Manila.
It is always a good thing to build on something that is not prone to flooding to mitigate the damage of natural calamities. In my place, we rarely experience such things as flooding, we have a very efficient drainage system in our creeks and waterways, that is, they not yet clogged with garbage and water lilies. We made sure it doesn't come to that.

I know how it feels to be a flood victim 'cause we've been a victim of it twice and it's really horrible!
We all felt so scared thinking it might be our last day in the world. We can't do anything about the rising flood, good thing we have a second floor in our house. All we do is to hope and pray that our Lord will spare us all from the heavy rains and floods. God is merciful!
We survived the two heavy floodings. I pity those who are still experiencing the flood,I know how hard it is to move and live with flood inside your house.

The very first thing I do when I am worried is to pray and I feel good after I have done that... We cannot do anything on the natural calamity but we can give our best to help the victims... Maybe in our own little way we can... I am with you in spirit...
