Expendables = "Retirables"

Philippines
August 17, 2012 5:16am CST
When we went to the cinemas last Sunday, we saw the poster of Expendables 2, and found out there were more actors joining like Hemsworth from Thor, Van Dame, and Arnold S. My husband joked that the title should be "Retirables", since most of them have been out of the movie business for some time and are getting older, too. I wonder how much each of them are paid for this movie. But, based on feedback from Part I, they say the movie was quite overrated.

I saw the first one and was not impressed although it was interesting seeing such a huge cast all together, kind of like oceans 11 and such lots of big name people in one movie.

Figures guess we will wait for that to come out on dvd, I would rather see Resident Evil that should be coming out soon, more my type of movie, and a zombie movie even my husband will watch.

I like that, too. I may not be able to watch it on bigscreen, but having a DVD copy would suffice.

This second installment is just as bad, according to my husband. I mean, we would expect a really spectacular production having all those big names, right. And, its just disappointing to realize it's mediocre.

hi jure. read in yahoo a couple of days ago that arnold schwarzenegger did the movie for free. unsure of how much the rest of the actors were paid but i would have done this film for free as well. working with sly stallone, arnold, bruce willis, van damme, chuck norris, jet li, and the rest of the big name action stars is more than enough. seriously. you and the hubby must not be big action fans. to each his own i guess. cheers and happy mylotting jureathome!

My husband likes action movies. He even watches non-american action movies, even if he doesn't know the actors. Perhaps, if this movie was not made up of big actors, it would have been a fine one. But, because people expect a lot from the big cast, then they get disappointed.

hi jureathome. i also watch non-american action films myself. if the movie is available at imdb, and usually it is, i look it up and read about the movie so at least i have a background about the movie as well as the actors and directors involved in the film. i think one of the things why 'expendables' was watched by many was because of the inclusion of so many big name action stars. i watched the movie and i found it better than the first one. cheers!!!

Good to hear a positive review from an action-fan like you. My husband just got a copy last night, and I'm going to see it for myself today or tomorrow, when I'm free.

i have seen this movie and didn't thin it was that good. The cast is quite old, especially Sylvester Stallone but i gave it a shot sine i was a fan of him. I am glad the second movie had more recent actors.

There's only one new actor added to the team. It's just Chris Hemsworth from Thor. The rest are retirables.

Actually, I enjoyed the movie. And I beg to disagree with your husband, those actors are really great and they are legends! It is such an awesome effort from Stalone to make a movie composed of him, Schwarzeneger, Willis, Statham, Van Damme, Jet Li, and Norris and all the otehr guys.

Of course, they are all good actors, and they had their time in the limelight. They had great movies at the peak of their careers. I think the movie just didn't live up to most of the fans' expectations of what they can do. I don't think the movie even sold that much compared to other big productions.

I love these actors! Part I was really good. I read in Yahoo! news that Arnold did the movie for free. I guess for these actors, it's not just about earning money (Since most of them are really rich now and very popular) they do this for their passion and the for the love of their work

Oh, that's so noble for them. Maybe, they co-produced the film, and instead of getting paid, they get their share on the profit.

So, it wasn't the Thor actor, afterall. I have always wondered why he looked a bit different on the posters. I thought it was just the hair. hahaha.. noone else told me that. Anyway, I haven't watched the movie up until now. My husband said it wasn't very good, so I didn't mind playing the DVD.

I am a gr8 fan of Sivester stallon. I have seen the part-1 and it was a good one. Your husband is quite rite but peoples say that no business is like show business, you can enjoy as long as you are alive. Reports and reviews are good about part2 as well and i am waiting for it.

I don't know if I can convince my husband to watch this on widescreen. He was so disappointed with Part 1. Maybe, we'll just get a DVD copy, than pay a lot for cinema tickets. I was actually a bit excited, because Hemsworth is there. He's my crush, after Thor.

They are pretty old in the facee lol , its a nice concept on the action side but the plot side its already been done , i dont blame the stallion for coming up with a nice idea when no one else is doing it tho.

A good inspiration for Hollywood to produce "Retirables" soon.

I think the producers of Expendables are just banking on the popularity of the casts, but not much on the movie production, itself. THey could have made a grand masterpiece out of these guys. Something as good as "Avengers" and "Batman".

Hey friend, I had watched this movie - Expendables 2. It's true these actors are senior but they still able to make an entertaining movie. :) I feel that something is missing in Expendables 2 as Jet Li just appeared for a shot while...

It would have been more entertaining to see his kung fu moves.

I don't know what movie name would you like expendables or retireables. What I do consider it as Expandable. New movie with new expanded team. With each movie its team are expanding with new level But about movie its trailer were marvelous and expecting to be too good than the first one.

hahaha i am quite agreed with your husband then.i feel that this film is nothing special except just borrowing their popular name only to raise the film rate.of course a lot of fanatic fans are there from them because they all are senior actors at hollywood

I hope they've used their skills and talents to good use. The directors and producers could have made more money if they really made a serious movie with all these big names.

The first one was overrated and I was expecting more from such a strong case
